Wow! We are already half-way through May, but we want to take a moment to highlight the importance of this month!

May is Foster Care Awareness Month – Engaging Youth, Building Supports, and Strengthening Opportunities.

Young people in foster care face unique barriers to education, employment, housing, health care, and supportive connections with adults and peers like them.

At the Emerge Center, we are committed to providing opportunities for emancipated foster youth through vocational education, resources, and supportive services so that these youth can reach their full potential.

We are so grateful for partners like Crossroads Dayton who helped us make our space more welcoming and inviting to our clients, residents, students, team members and visitors as part of their Crossroads ReachOut Day.

A lot of hard work went into making the space look better and reflect the care people have for this place and the people in it. It may seem like “just” paint and plants but these projects will serve as a constant reminder that those we serve are not alone.

They are backed and surrounded by so many people they may never meet who are praying for them and cheering them on as they rebuild their lives.

Recovery is possible, and it happens together.

Our CEO Rachel Huffman and Director of Development Allison Steele had the privilege to attend the DDC Fly in at our Nations Capital, Washington, DC this week to represent Emerge. They were able to advocate on behalf of Emerge’s next capital project, which will provide 24 individual dorm units for former foster youth. God continues to do amazing things and get us in front of the right people to fulfill the mission of Emerge!
