A few weeks ago, something really special happened at our safe house 💜
In honor of an exiting client’s daughter’s birthday, several clients came together with the idea of hosting a cookout to celebrate.
They brought the idea to staff, hoping to create a meaningful send-off and joyful moment. Our team quickly jumped in to help, coordinating propane and BBQ supplies to make it possible.
The result? Our first safe house BBQ of the year.
It was filled with music, laughter, and connection. Clients spent time bonding, sharing food, and simply enjoying a sense of normalcy and community. There were smiles all around, and a deep sense of pride in what they created together.
Moments like this remind us:

✨ Healing spaces can also be joyful spaces
✨ Support makes all the difference

The sweetest young ladies stopped by today as part of a school report they’re working on about violence against women. They spent time learning about the work we do at VFF and creating beautiful handmade cards for our clients. Their empathy, thoughtfulness, and genuine desire to understand this issue was truly inspiring.

Last night, we were glad to have God’s Chicks join us for an evening centered on “Bloom Where You Are Planted.”
Creative activities like these can help calm the mind and offer a positive outlet in the middle of everyday stress. Clients spent time painting flower pots, planting marigolds, creating suncatchers, and enjoying dirt pudding together.
It was a relaxed, hands-on night that gave everyone a chance to express themselves and simply enjoy the moment.
We appreciate God’s Chicks for spending time with our clients and making this experience possible. 💜

We are hoping to organize a relaxing and restorative staff retreat and are looking for individual or businesses willing to donate their time, talent or services to make this possible. This could include wellness activities, self-care experiences, creative workshops, or anything that would help our team recharge and feel appreciated. 

We are looking for an activity or service that could be provided for approximately an hour and a half during our retreat.

A huge thank you to Tap Truck Cincinnati for their incredibly generous donation of $1,500 to VFF! Not only did they do an amazing job serving our guests at Spring Fling and help create such a fun and welcoming atmosphere, but they also donated a portion of their sales back to support survivors in our community.
