We canโ€™t always see what someoneโ€™s nervous system is experiencing. Be patient. Be accommodating. Be compassionate. Always. ๐Ÿ’™

Thank you Logan County Board of Developmental Disabilities for these amazing Inclusion Tips for Back to School! ๐ŸŽ’๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ“š

Inclusion Tips for Back to School:

๐Ÿค Encourage kindness: Remind children that everyone deserves to be treated with kindness and respect.
๐Ÿ‘‹ Include everyone: Encourage your child to invite others to play, sit with them at lunch or join group activities.
๐Ÿ’ฌ Use respectful language: Teach children to choose words that are kind and respectful when talking about differences.
๐Ÿ‘€ Notice when someone is left out: Encourage your child to look around and make an effort to include classmates who may be alone.
โค๏ธ Celebrate differences: Talk about how everyone has different strengths, interests, abilities and ways of learning.
๐Ÿงฉ Be a good teammate: Encourage children to be patient and work together, even when someone does things differently.
๐Ÿ˜Š Make everyone feel welcome: A smile, a hello or asking someone to join in can make a big difference.
๐ŸŒŸ Focus on what we have in common: Help children discover shared interests instead of focusing on differences.
๐Ÿ’™ Lead by example: Show children what inclusion looks like through your own words and actions.

Small acts of kindness can make a big difference in helping every child feel welcome and included!
