Communications Help Needed!

Do you like to be active on social media? Can you help advertise PTA events and volunteer opportunities? Become the new Communications Representative! In the theme of “things will be different this year,” we want to help our WES community stay more connected than ever. The Communication Rep will attend monthly PTA meetings, communicate volunteer roles and opportunities and keep our community updated via social media and online newsletter. The PTA Board is excited to welcome this new role! Contact Ayanna Backs at [email protected] for more info!

Today (Thursday) is the last day to pre-order pizza and raffle tickets for WES Fest!! WES Fest is tomorrow (Friday) from 6-8 pm. You are able to purchase tickets at the door, but from personal experience, I can tell you its much easier to purchase ahead of time and pick up tomorrow night at Will Call desk (located near the cafeteria).

Yesterday a group of 5th grade students with the leadership of Sara Ernst from Franklin Soil and Water Conservation District, cleaned up and replanted the Rain Garden (which is located on the Intermediate playground on the northeast side of the building).

This effort was part of Franklin Soil and Water Conservation District’s Stormwater Awareness Week! They provided plant material for not only our Rain Garden, but also rain gardens at Worthington Community Center and Worthington Hills Country Club.

To learn more about conservation efforts at home, check out their website: https://www.franklinswcd.org/default.aspx

Please remind your students that the Rain Garden is meant to be enjoyed by all, but we need to be careful around the new plants (they have leaves around them) until they are established. Thanks for your help!

Worthington Bridges is holding a drive in partnership with the Worthington Linworth Kiwanis to stock clothing pantries that exist in our elementary schools and will be expanded to our middle schools. In most cases, these clothes are used to help a child who has an accident or spills something on their clothing. Sometimes, however, there are children that lack adequate articles of clothing at home.

WES Variety Show

The WES Variety Show, put on by the PTA, will be held on Friday, April 24th, 2020 at TWHS. If your child has participated in the past, you know what a fun night it is! The date is set, the theatre is reserved and students will have acts to perform. The only thing missing is a committee or event chair! In order for this WES tradition to continue, volunteers are needed to organize it. If there is no committee by Jan 1, the Variety Show will be cancelled. Please reach out to Matt Long at [email protected] for more information on how to help.
