📣 ADVOCACY ALERT!! 📣
🗳️ Advance voting for the November 3rd general election is underway! One of the most important items on the ballot for our Etowah Zone families is the RENEWAL of the Education SPLOST, or Education Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax.
💰 Ed-SPLOST is a voter-approved, one-cent sales tax that helps fund improvements to and maintenance of aging school facilities without directly impacting property taxes. Ed-SPLOST is NOT a new tax! It is the renewal of a one-cent sales tax that has been in place since 1997!
🏫 What does this mean for Etowah Zone families?
Approving the Ed-SPLOST would help fund the phased demolition and rebuilding of Etowah High School, the county's oldest high school.
The staff at Etowah has done a fabulous job keeping our aging facility looking good, but it’s important to remember that many parts of our campus date back to 1977—including much of the plumbing! Anyone around a couple of years ago may remember what happens when aging plumbing fails: SEWAGE BACKUPS, EWWWW!!!!! 🤢
Our school facilities need ongoing maintenance and investment to continue serving our students, teachers, and staff.
📢 Etowah Zone families, stay informed about Ed-SPLOST and make your voice heard this November 3rd!
