ESRA Michigan has been asked to help out two dogs taken in by ESRA in another state. We're looking for separate foster homes or foster-to-adopt homes for these two dogs. If you're interested in either dog, transport can be arranged.
First, meet Moose! He's a 52-pound, 2-year-old nearly all brown boy who started life as a stray in a small town, eventually taken in by Boykin rescue. They placed him in a foster home and then did a DNA test.
Turns out, Moose is 66% Springer and part Chow. Boykin rescue asked for ESRA’s help, and ESRA said yes.
He's energetic and needs exercise, then becomes a champion snuggler. If you want a dog who'll happily follow you from room and keep you company, Moose is your guy.
Moose gets along well with other dogs, including the senior Boykin in his former foster home, and he does well with cats. He was a little possessive of his human mom when it came to the young children in the home, so he needs a home with no children or only older children.
Second, meet Teddy! He's a four-year-old, 33-pound liver and white boy who lived in a home but wasn't vaccinated or neutered by his owners. He escaped his yard and chased after an leashed dog. Teddy fought with the dog, and when the dog’s owner attempted to break up the fight, she was bitten.
Since Teddy wasn't vaccinated, he went into quarantine for 30 days in the shelter. When his quarantine was over, his owners didn't claim him.
Teddy has been in boarding since he came into rescue and is now up to date on vaxes, neutered, and fully vetted. The folks at the kennel find him to be playful and happy.
He runs the fenceline at the kennel barking at other dogs but hasn't tried to battle with them at the fence. He was at the home of an ESRA volunteer, met the volunteer's dogs, and was fine with them. He rides quietly in his kennel in the car and loves treats.
