This Saturday, 3/28/26, Veterans Are Heroes SC will be at the Sweet Tea Station to spread awareness of our mission and promote our first aid kits for our Veterans! Stop out and see us, grab a coffee and shop local, while supporting Veterans! I heard the Easter Bunny is making an appearance, too.

JOB WELL DONE!!!

Our volunteers took some time today to deliver and set up an apartment for our Veteran. He signed his lease on Tuesday but has been staying at the shelter awaiting his furnishings. Furniture was delivered yesterday and today most everything else was delivered, opened, washed, set up, and now tonight he is able to sleep in his comfortable bed under his own bedding! We have more volunteers delivering some smaller but still large furniture to him on Saturday morning. But for tonight and tomorrow, his new home has enough in it that he can function in it. What a great job, our volunteers did! Enjoy these progression photos that show how things started to the final product!

We had two Veterans who signed their leases this week! Furniture was delivered earlier in the week but this morning our volunteers gathered to ensure they received the rest of their items as planned. Tim and Adam delivered in Taylors while Scott and Tammy delivered and set up in Greenville. It was another successful day living our mission!

This weekend hit me in the feels a bit. We were blessed to receive a significant donation from the family of a Veteran. There were six volunteers to pick up the donations—enough furniture to help at least 3 Veterans, and enough dishes to help at least 2 Veteran families and another Veteran. I know the emotions the family felt in doing this; I’ve been there. I know that makes this even more meaningful for them. Part of their grief can now become comfort, knowing they’ve honored their favorite Veteran by taking care of another, and more.

I have to say, our volunteers are the best! It takes a village to make our mission successful. Thank you to everyone who helped this weekend and for everything each of you do in between the deliveries to keep our mission going!

The VA Training site offers a wide variety of courses covering:
Sleep issues
Problem-solving skills
Anger management
Parenting
Other helpful courses
