Thanks to all who helped live out our mission again today!🙏❤️🥣

This is a tribute to our beloved volunteer, Bob McCandless, who passed to his Heavenly Home earlier this week.

Galatians 5:13 says to “serve one another humbly in love" which means to use your personal freedom to genuinely help and care for other people without seeking attention, power, or personal gain. That describes Bob McCandless to a “T”.

As you scroll through these photos of him that were candidly taken on the many days that he volunteered, it’s easy to see the joy that he received and the love that he shared with our people who stopped in for meals. Bob put in lots of hours behind the scenes mopping floors, cleaning bathrooms, sorting canned goods and helping his wife, Shelley (our soup kitchen manager), keep the soup kitchen running in tip top shape. We will truly miss this man of God and his many contributions to Woodruff Area Soup Kitchen and the people it serves!❤️🙏🥣

This weekend at the Soup Kitchen…

Thank you to these weekend volunteers for picking up food donations from our local Food Lion and Duncan Publix! They have us ready to begin a brand new week of providing meals for those in need.

Michael Arnold took care of our Food Lion donations on Saturday and today it was Makenzie Andrews and Cora Heller for Food Lion and Lisa and Beth Grant for Publix.

This is a very fitting excerpt from the thought for today by a friend, Bruce League:

“Jesus modeled for all His followers - past, present and future – to be servants to those we meet. We are to treat others as the special child of God that they are. When we share Christ with others, we are humbling ourselves like He did that night in the Upper Room. We are taking off our sandals and ministering to others in Jesus’ name. At that moment, we are standing on HOLY GROUND.”

We hope to show this every day through our ministry at the soup kitchen!
