U.S. Wildland Fire Service and Virginia Department of Forestry are responding to an approximately 1.26-acre fire near Stull Run Trail in the south district of Shenandoah National Park. The investigation continues into the cause of the fire, which was reported on the morning of August 26. The fire is not currently threatening any structures, and all park trails and facilities remain open.

As the fall fire season approaches, park officials urge the public to help prevent wildfires. Fires are prohibited in the park except in park-built fire grates located in picnic grounds and campgrounds. Bring a container to carry water and extinguish a fire completely before leaving the area. If you see smoke or fire in the park, call the emergency phone line: 800-732-0911.
