Woodbridge Rotary Club Learns About Alzheimer’s and Brain Health

Today, the Woodbridge Rotary Club was honored to welcome Ms. Sidonia Cannon, Manager of the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, with the Alzheimer’s Association National Capital Area Office.

Ms. Cannon delivered an informative and impactful presentation on Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and other brain-related disorders, helping our members better understand the challenges faced by millions of individuals and families affected by these conditions. She also shared valuable information about ongoing research, available support services, and the importance of community involvement in the fight against Alzheimer’s.

Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia impact not only those diagnosed but also their caregivers, loved ones, and entire communities. Education, awareness, and research are critical to advancing treatments and ultimately finding a cure.

The Woodbridge Rotary Club proudly supports the Walk to End Alzheimer’s and encourages everyone in our community to get involved. Whether through participation, volunteering, fundraising, or simply spreading awareness, each of us can play a role in helping advance research and support those affected by this devastating disease.

Together, we can bring hope to families, support groundbreaking research, and move closer to a world without Alzheimer’s.

Thank you, Ms. Cannon, for your dedication to this important cause and for sharing your expertise with our club today.

What an incredible few weeks it has been at the Rotary Club of Woodbridge! Our club continues to bring together outstanding leaders, innovators, educators, and community champions who are making a real difference across Prince William County and beyond.

During the end of April and the beginning of May, we were honored to welcome an amazing lineup of guest speakers and organizations:

🔹 Award-winning television host and producer Ingrid Parris-Hicklin, President of Ingrid’s World, LLC, inspired our members with her remarkable journey in media, public service, and community engagement. As Executive Producer and Host of Ingrid’s World Television Show, Ingrid highlighted the importance of storytelling, leadership, and uplifting positive voices throughout our region.

🔹 George Hinckley from Smart Community STEM Camp Inc. shared the organization’s mission of empowering young minds through STEM education, innovation, and hands-on learning experiences that prepare students for the future.

🔹 We also welcomed Dr. Stan Jones from ACTS this past Thursday. Dr. Jones provided an informative and inspiring presentation on the critical services ACTS provides throughout Prince William County, including support for families in crisis, domestic violence prevention, food assistance, and community outreach programs that strengthen lives every day.

🔹 In addition, Ms. Dawn Marie Lewis, Executive Director of TerraClear Foundation USA, joined us to discuss the TerraClear clean water initiative in Laos. She shared the organization’s impactful work providing access to safe and sustainable water systems for underserved communities, helping improve public health, sanitation, and quality of life for families in rural villages. Her presentation highlighted how international partnerships and humanitarian service can transform lives around the world.

These outstanding presentations reflect what Rotary is all about — bringing together leaders, organizations, and community partners to inspire service above self and create lasting impact.

In addition to our incredible speakers, our club proudly continued serving the community through projects like “Books for Bright Futures,” where we donated hundreds of books to students at Featherstone Elementary School through Rotary District 7610’s Books for Title One Schools initiative.

Thank you to all of our speakers, members, and community partners for making this such an exciting and impactful season for our club. The future is bright at the Woodbridge Rotary Club!

Woodbridge Virginia Rotary Club Supports G.R.E.A.T. Math Minds!

Last evening, the Woodbridge Rotary Club was a proud sponsor of the Pink Space Theory G.R.E.A.T. Math Minds event at the A.J. Ferlazzo Building in Woodbridge, Virginia — and what an inspiring evening it was!

Local students lit up the room as they showcased creative math projects, demonstrated problem-solving skills, and competed in engaging math challenges. The energy, confidence, and brilliance on display reminded us why investing in our youth is one of the most powerful forms of service.

As part of our partnership with Pink Space Theory, Woodbridge Rotarians hosted a table where we proudly distributed Pink Space Theory book bags filled with Rotary information to children and their families. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with parents, encourage students, and share the mission of Rotary with the broader community.

This event directly aligns with one of Rotary International’s Seven Areas of Focus — Supporting Education. Rotary believes that literacy and education are foundational to opportunity, economic development, and long-term community success. By supporting programs like G.R.E.A.T. Math Minds, we are helping strengthen STEM education, promote academic excellence, and inspire the next generation of leaders right here in Woodbridge.

Our presence was about more than handing out book bags — it was about showing young people that their community believes in them. It was about demonstrating that Rotary is committed to nurturing curious minds, supporting innovative programs, and building partnerships that create lasting impact.

We are grateful to Pink Space Theory for their leadership and for creating a platform where students can shine. Partnerships like this allow Rotary to live out its mission of “Service Above Self” in tangible, meaningful ways.

To our members who attended — thank you for representing the heart of Rotary. And to those who could not make it — there will be many more opportunities as we continue strengthening our commitment to education and youth development in 2026.

Together, we are not just supporting math projects — we are multiplying possibilities.
