Today, I kicked off Apple iPad lessons at the Early College!

Through the Apple Community Education Initiative (CEI) grant, we’re able to give youth hands-on opportunities to explore technology and learn how to use it creatively, from podcasting and stop-motion videos to so much more!

I’m pairing these lessons with the You’re Hired! curriculum, where youth will take what they’ve learned and put it into action. By the end of the program, they’ll create their own marketing logos and pitch their ideas to the group.

Our goal is bigger than just learning how to use an iPad. We’re helping youth become stronger speakers, creative thinkers, confident presenters, and tech makers.

I’m excited to see what they create and, most importantly, watch their confidence grow along the way!

Thank you again to UNC Wilmington’s College of Science & Engineering for welcoming us back to campus! Our youth had an incredible time, and Dr. Ferner made our visit truly special and unforgettable. We can’t wait to return, explore even more of campus, and hopefully send a few future Seahawks your way! 💚

This 4-H Agent is officially TIRED, but this week was so worth it! 💚

5 Days. 5 Universities. 5 Career Paths. Countless opportunities.

🌱 Day 1: NC State University – We explored horticulture and agriculture and learned that you don’t have to be a farmer to build a career in agriculture.

🧪 Day 2: Joint School of Nanoscience & Nanoengineering (N.C. A&T & UNCG) – We discovered cutting-edge research and the many ways science and engineering impact our world.

🏨 Day 3: East Carolina University – We visited the School of Hospitality Leadership and explored careers in hospitality, tourism, and event management.

🐄 Day 4: N.C. A&T University Farm – We toured more than 500 acres of farmland, learned about agricultural research, and, of course, fell in love with the baby cows!

🤖 Day 5: UNC Wilmington – We became engineers for the day, explored AI in science, and discovered the endless possibilities of robotics.

Watching our youth experience these campuses, ask questions, and imagine themselves in these careers made every mile traveled worth it.

My heart is full, and just like that, another summer of 4-H adventures has come to an end. 💚☘️

Day 2 of Career Exploration Camp was spent at the UNCG and N.C. A&T Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering!

We learned that this is a very special school because it exclusively offers graduate-level programs! Our youth also got to learn about the fascinating research being conducted by faculty in fields such as chemistry, biology, medicine, and so much more.

We’re continuing to expose our youth to exciting career paths and college opportunities as they explore what their futures could look like!

This week, Bertie & Vance County 4-H are partnering together for an exciting Career Exploration Summer Camp for high schoolers! Our first stop was NC State University’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, where our youth explored the fields of horticulture and entomology.

This week is all about exposure to careers and colleges and helping our youth see the possibilities that are available to them. Each day, we’ll visit a different university and dive into a different career pathway.

We’re excited to expose our youth to new opportunities, spark their interests, and help them envision their future!

We have been so grateful to have Amina on our team another year as the 4-H intern! Friday she did a marvelous job presenting at the internship presentation wrap up. We will miss her as this is her last week with us!🍀💚

Congress 2026 was busy, but so much fun! 💚 We enjoyed engaging workshops, meaningful service projects, a little downtime at an interactive arcade, and ended it all with a fun-filled gala. It was a packed few days full of learning, laughter, new experiences, and making memories that will last a lifetime! 🍀

If you know me, you would know that swim camp is my most favorite time of summer camps. Today is Day 1 and we’re already having a good time with East Carolina University aquatics department!
