We're excited to welcome Nijil Persaud to the Pride of Bertie Board of Directors! Nijil is currently serving as Interim Chair.

Nijil Persaud is a systems-builder and social innovator focused on designing scalable solutions that strengthen food security, community health, and economic mobility. He leads ReNourish and Novexa, where he builds practical, data-driven models that turn community challenges into clear, repeatable systems of support.

Born and raised in Colerain, North Carolina, Nijil is a proud graduate of Bertie STEM High School (Class of 2016). His commitment to community impact began earlyβ€”most notably when he helped lead a county-wide tornado relief effort in 2020, raising more than $2,000 to support displaced families through a grassroots campaign shared across the region.

With a background in federal operations, financial management, and organizational design, Nijil brings a rare blend of strategic thinking and on-the-ground ex*****on. He has led initiatives that improve accountability, streamline workflows, and align resources to measurable outcomes β€” always with a focus on dignity, equity, and long-term sustainability.

Through Novexa’s innovation studio, Nijil develops cross-sector approaches that bridge food, housing, workforce development, and technology. His work with ReNourish reflects that mission: transforming surplus food into chef-prepared meals while building a sustainable, community-centered food system.

Rooted in rural North Carolina, Nijil is committed to creating models that empower local communities β€” starting with places like Bertie County β€” and scaling them nationally to help people live healthier, more stable, and more connected lives.
