The North-South Skirmish Association (N-SSA) was formed in 1950 to commemorate the ACW Ft. Shenandoah is the N-SSA's home range.

It is located on several hundred acres of land in the rolling hills of the lower Shenandoah Valley, just outside of Wi******er, Virginia. Facilities include the country's widest (over a quarter mile) rifle range controlled from a single tower, a separate revolver range, and private camping. Member units are assigned campsites for their use throughout the year. Most competitors and their families s

pend skirmish weekends on the range - a particularly enjoyable experience during the prime camping seasons of late May (Spring Nationals) and early October (Fall Nationals). Planned activities for a typical skirmish weekend include children's programs, dances, cook-outs, and trips to "Sutler Row," where vendors display and sell Civil War fi****ms, accoutrements, and clothing. FALL RECRUIT SKIRMISH

The POTOMAC REGION of the N-SSA is hosting a FALL Recruit Skirmish at FT.
SHENANDOAH in Wi******er, VA on September 19, 2026.
All that is required to attend is Ear/Eye Protection and a willingness to learn and
everything else will be provided for you for that day.
If interested you will be taught by certified instructors, Range Safety Personnel and
other Experienced Skirmishers that will guide you through each step. You will be
competing against other recruits in team competitions.
