UPDATE ON Jewel:
Last Tuesday Jewel the kitten with the severe pelvic fracture had her follow up appointment with Dr. Bruce Welch at Animal Medical Center. We got good news and bad 😕. First the good, her pelvis is healing nicely so she is off cage rest and is enjoying playing with our other kittens. The bad news is that she has polycystic kidneys. Her right kidney is slight enlarged but her left is nearly twice the normal size. What does this mean for Jewel’s future? Well she is on a special food that supports her kidneys as well as a special supplement to lower her phosphate. She will be a permanent foster and we will do whatever we need to support her and give her the best life possible. She loves her new food and is thoroughly enjoying being a playful kitten.

Rescue can be so hard. And then you get this essay written by Emmalyn or Emmy about her adoption of Paul the Cat!! Please take a moment to read the essay. She was the winner of the charity spotlight essay. Emmy saved her own money to adopt Paul, a special needs kitty who is now her best friend! Congratulations Emmy on all of your awards and for loving Paulie so much!!! We posted the flyer about Paul the Cat to remind everyone which kitty he was!! Dakotas Dream often has children and adolescents volunteer and we truly feel the animals benefit from their interactions!
