🏅✈️ Did You Know? Run Where History Took Flight! ✈️🏅

On April 5, 2025, runners will have the rare opportunity to race on the Wi******er Regional Airport runway for the Valor 5K & Kids' Mile—a truly unique experience!

But did you know that Wi******er has deep aviation roots? Richard Evelyn Byrd Jr., a Wi******er native, was a naval officer, pioneering aviator and polar explorer. In 1926, he was credited as being the first person to fly over the North Pole, cementing his place in history. He later completed a transatlantic flight just one month after Charles Lindbergh’s famous journey!

This race isn’t just about running—it’s about honoring public safety and military personnel, celebrating the legacy of aviation and supporting the Frederick County Virginia Sheriff's Office Youth Camp.
