A little Halloween fun and team building at the Evans Home! 🎃🍎

During our Program Meeting on Monday, our talented Program Director, LaMishia, led our staff in a fun “stained glass” Halloween art activity. We got to show off our creative sides, enjoy a delicious caramel apple bar, and spend some time together as a team!

Working in residential care can be challenging, so taking time to laugh, get creative, and connect with one another is important.

Fall is a great reminder that sometimes the little things bring the biggest smiles. Whether it's jumping in a pile of leaves, enjoying a warm treat, or just spending time together, we're all about making memories and enjoying the season!

🎃👻 **The Dolls Are Taking a Year Off... But They'll Be Back!** 🪆

We're sad to announce that we will not be hosting our Creepy Doll Paint & Sip this year. But don't worry... those creepy little faces, haunted eyes, and unsettling smiles will be back in 2027! 💀

In the meantime, we are looking for dolls to add to our paintable collection! Have an old doll lurking in your attic, hiding in a closet, or staring at you from a dusty shelf? We'd love to take it off your hands and give it a delightfully creepy makeover! 🕷️

Help us keep this spooky new tradition alive... because every doll deserves a second chance to become something truly terrifying! 👻🎨

We were grateful to attend the Philanthropy Day Luncheon hosted by the Community Foundation of the Northern Shenandoah Valley at Clem's Kitchen yesterday!

We are excited to share that the Evans Home received a grant from the Community Future Fund of the CFNSV!

With the rising cost of groceries and just about everything else, stretching our food budget has become more challenging. This grant will help us increase our monthly food budget so we can purchase more healthy foods and snacks for our kids. It will also allow us to expand our hands-on cooking activities, giving our youth more opportunities to develop important independent living skills while having some fun in the kitchen!

Thank you to the Community Foundation of the Northern Shenandoah Valley for recognizing this need and helping us provide healthy meals, new experiences, and valuable life skills for the kids in our care!

A big THANK YOU to Shentel for once again choosing the Evans Home for your Caring Days volunteer event! 💙

Their team spent the day painting some of our kids’ bedrooms and door frames, along with tackling several needed repairs around the house. These projects make such a difference in helping us keep our home safe, welcoming, and sparkling!

And of course, it’s all fun and games until the Wi******er Fire Department shows up! 🚒😂 Apparently, our fire alarm system is not a fan of electric sanders. Who knew?! Glad they were good sports and stopped for a really quick picture.

A little unexpected excitement aside, we are so grateful to Shentel for your continued support and willingness to roll up your sleeves and help us care for our home and the kids who live here! ❤️

A big thank you to Love to NIC for providing new boots and shoes for a young adult in our Alumni Program! ❤️

He recently started a new job that keeps him on his feet all day, so having good, comfortable, supportive shoes is especially important.

We are so thankful for community partners like Love to Nic who help us continue supporting our young people as they move into adulthood, start new jobs, and build their independence. Sometimes something as simple as the right pair of shoes can make a big difference. 👟

Thank you, Love to Nic, for being there when one of our young adults needed a little extra support!

What an incredible gift! ❤️

A huge thank you to the Wi******er Virginia Eagles Club 824 for their incredibly generous $20,000 donation to the Evans Home!!

They had a wonderful celebration Saturday night, and we were so grateful to be a part of it. Thank you to Evans Home Board Member Craig Morcom for attending and accepting the check on our behalf.

We are so fortunate to have organizations like the Eagles in our community who believe in the work we do and continue to support the children we serve.

What a night! ❤️🎶📸

We had such a great time at our Evening with Evans Home Friends event last night! Amazing music, awesome food, lots of laughs, great camaraderie, and a little photo booth silliness made for a pretty fantastic evening.

And the best part? We were having fun while raising funds to support the kids and the work of the Evans Home!

Our Executive Director and a few of our Board Members definitely got into the spirit of the evening — as you can see below! 😂📸

Thank you to everyone who joined us, sponsored the event, donated, bid in the silent auction, and helped make the night such a success. We are incredibly lucky to have such a fun and supportive community behind the Evans Home.
