The Valley Venture: Northern Shenandoah Scavenger Hunt Spectacular

Ready to explore the Northern Shenandoah Valley in a whole new way?

The Valley Venture is turning the region into one giant scavenger hunt—and your adventure can help make a difference for older adults in our community.

On Saturday, October 17, teams of 2–4 will choose their own adventure through Clarke, Frederick, Warren, Shenandoah, or Page counties, or the City of Wi******er, completing creative and brain-teasing challenges along the way.

But this isn't just about the hunt.

Teams will also raise funds through their personal networks to support Seniors First and the Shenandoah Area Agency on Aging, helping support services for older adults across our region.

So gather your friends, family, coworkers, or favorite adventure partners and get ready to explore, compete, laugh, and give back!

Imagine waking up one day and everything you’ve worked so hard to build is suddenly gone.

That is the heartbreaking reality facing a local family after a devastating house fire took their home and belongings.

Thankfully, their two children are safe. Their mother is still fighting through the aftermath. She is currently at the DC Burn Center after suffering serious damage to her throat. Although she did not sustain burns, her injuries are severe, and she is currently unable to breathe on her own.

While she fights to heal, her family is left facing the overwhelming reality of starting over — without a home, without their belongings, and with so much uncertainty ahead.

LIA is asking our community to come together and help carry this family through a time no family should ever have to face alone. Every prayer, every act of kindness, every donation, and every share can make a difference.

Community Connect & Serve Spotlight: Connected Communities

We’re pleased to welcome Connected Communities to Community Connect & Serve 2026!

Based in Wi******er, Connected Communities works with youth, families, and adults through mentoring and support, professional counseling, support groups, and other community-based services. Their approach includes evidence-based and trauma-informed practices focused on helping individuals and families grow, heal, and succeed.

At CCS, Connected Communities is looking to build partnerships, expand awareness of services, explore funding and collaboration opportunities, and connect with other community organizations and leaders. They also bring opportunities for networking, internships, and partnerships with other organizations.
