On this two year anniversary of Hurricane Helene tearing through western North Carolina and forever changing the face of the mountains, we wanted to share some photos we took while there. Our director spent months over the past two years documenting the destruction and reconstruction, and getting to know the community. We are planning a project for the affected families in 2027.

We took this photo on this day four years ago at a school and orphanage in rural northeast India. We have gone to different parts of India over the years to meet kids, to bring awareness to their situations, to help fundraise for them, to photograph them, and to spend time with them. Most come from one or multiple of the following situations: orphans or have lost at least one parent, live in poverty, from rural villages, have HIV, have been abused, and more.

On this visit, we brought Polaroid cameras so the kids could have photographs of them with their besties to hold on to and cherish. It was a highlight of our time with them. They are in chapters of their lives where they are rebuilding, and we wanted to give them photographs as they do.
