Welcome to the Williamsburg Area Amateur Radio Club, founded in 1975. All ages are encouraged! At 7pm we have our regular monthly meeting.

Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every month at the James City-Bruton Volunteer Fire Station, 3135 Forge Road in Toano. We have an Hour of Power at 6pm for informal Q&A or learning sessions catered toward newer hams. Regular programs of interest follow short business meetings, and is open to all Amateur Radio operators, friends, and families. Refreshments are served. Anyone with an interest in Amateur Radio is welcome and encouraged to attend.

Reminder!
From our VE Coordinator:
The next WAARC open test session opportunity to upgrade or earn a new license will be Saturday, October 24, at 09:00 at the James City-Bruton VFD, 3135 Forge Road in Toano.

All three classes of license tests will be offered. See the WAARC website for additional details.

There is a $15 test fee (under age 18 is $5) that covers all of your exams at that session. Preferably please provide a check or money order payable to “ARRL-VEC”, or cash can be accepted if needed. Also, if you are sitting for a brand new Technician license, the FCC will want a $35 license fee to be paid separately to the FCC when your license is ready to be issued. The FCC’s fee does not apply to upgrades. Technician candidates should obtain an FRN from the FCC in advance of the test session.

Walk-ins are welcome. However it would help if you would advise in advance if you plan to attend this session and what class license you will attempt. Send a message via *[email protected]*, or pre-register at HamStudy .

And as always, pop-up testing on short notice can be arranged whenever someone is ready to take a test.

The Museum has so many exciting things happening in September. The Bay Quilters will return the week of the 11th. The Radio Club returns on the 14th and Bruce Bracken on the 24th. So good every one keeps coming back , Make sure you do the same. Never a boring day at the Mathews Museum.
