The Pando Initiative

The Pando Initiative The Pando Initiative builds strong and supportive connections with students, families, and communities that promote success in school, at home, and in life.

Our mission: We connect with students to help them engage and thrive in education and their future. Our belief: We believe that we were all created for connection and when we’re connected, we’re at our best. That’s why we connect with students to help them engage and thrive in education and their future. What we do: We connect students to people, communities, and organizations, helping them buil

d strength, vitality and the courage to take the initiative to succeed. Connect. Engage. Thrive. The Pando Initiative.

• We are an initiative. We are not an institution, a school, or a place where people go.
• We connect and engage with people, take purposeful actions to help students thrive. “Initiative” is descriptive of what we do organizationally, but also is what we desire from our students and the people we work with to help them.
• We are part of an interconnected system that is enduring despite the challenges and obstacles life presents. Connect
• Identify students in need
• Link community resources

Engage
• Build relationships with students
• Enhance social/emotional well-being

Thrive
• Prepare students for life
• Recognize student achievement

The best partnerships have the power to strengthen more than one organization. They strengthen the work, the story, and the community around it. When we work together, everyone benefits, and the impact reaches even further.

We’re grateful to Malibu Creative for capturing our story and sharing how their partnership has helped us tell it more clearly and meaningfully.

Thank you, Malibu Creative, for being part of The Pando Way!

As we continue celebrating the incredible moments from this year’s STAR Awards, we want to recognize one of the special honors presented during the event: the Guiding STAR Mentor Award.

This year’s award was presented to East Heights UMC for their incredible commitment to students at Jefferson Elementary. For more than a decade, volunteers from East Heights have continued to show up with consistency, care, and heart. They help make sure students have food through the weekend, create space for connection through group activities, and offer the kind of steady presence that makes a lasting impact.

Their partnership is a powerful example of what it means to walk alongside students and help create the strong connections they need to succeed in school, at home, and in life.

Congratulations to East Heights United Methodist Church, our 2026 Guiding STAR Mentor Award recipient!
