Last year, the Heins family came to Ronald McDonald House Wichita during one of the most difficult times of their lives. Their son, Darren, was involved in a horrible accident and was ejected from his truck, leaving his family facing an unimaginable journey.
While Darren was in the ER and SICU, his family spent nights in waiting rooms, trying to catch whatever rest they could in uncomfortable chairs. Someone mentioned Ronald McDonald House, and soon, the Heins family had a room and a place to call home during their time in Wichita.
The Heins family spent four months in Wichita as Darren fought for his life.
“During those four months, Ronald McDonald House became our home away from home—a place of comfort, kindness, and stability during the hardest season of our lives. It was such a blessing walking through the door each evening to a smiling, friendly face. They truly were a calm in the storm and support for us.”
Today, we are incredibly grateful to welcome the Hines family back—but this time, they came to give back. ❤️
Their community recently held a fundraiser in honor of Darren and raised more than $3,000 to support Ronald McDonald House Wichita. We are so touched by their generosity and by their desire to help other families who may find themselves in the same position they once were.
