🙏The UNWLA family mourns the passing of Lubow Wolynetz, a devoted Soyuzianka, scholar, and guardian of Ukrainian cultural heritage.
A longtime member of Branch 64 in New York, she served as UNWLA’s Cultural Education Chair from 1971–1978 and contributed to Our Life as an editorial board member and writer.
She helped shape The Ukrainian Museum from its earliest days, serving as curator and trustee. Her vision inspired its first major exhibition, “Traditional Designs in Ukrainian Textiles” (1977), exploring the symbolism of rushnyky and their place in Ukrainian life.
She continued to serve as a beloved teacher at the Museum, bringing Ukrainian embroidery, vyshyvanky and a wealth of knowledge to hundred of students over the years.
UNWLA recognized her as an Honored Member in 2021, celebrating more than fifty years of service. Her scholarship and dedication leave an enduring legacy for generations to come.
But more than all her great accomplishments, pani Luba was unfailingly kind, generous, ever optimistic and a devoted daughter of her homeland, Ukraine.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to her family and all who knew and loved her.
