8 years, but it feels like yesterday. 8 years, of constantly reliving those final days like they just happened. 8 years since the last time we saw, hugged you, heard your voice. It will never get easier or feel ok writing down these words year after year. You should be here, right beside us, making all of the memories. You should be here, embracing these milestones and chapters of life right next to me. You and me, growing up together, side by side, as brother & sister. Mom and dad should be able to see BOTH of their kids growing old, taking on the different phases of life, having both of us here to take care of them when it’s our turn to carry the torch. Grief is the eternal feeling of helplessness. Of not being able to reverse the clock, change the outcome, stop this from being your fate and our new reality. Everyday is a battle…to make you proud, honor your memory, to keep going without you here in the way we wish so badly that you were. I remind myself, you fought your battle every single day and now you’re at peace. Now, it’s our turn. To continue the battle, honoring you, remembering you, keeping you close as we walk through this life. You by our side, just in a new way. Until we’re reunited, together again and at peace ❤️ We love you, Joey, forever & always 💔

This day will never get easier. Today, you would have been 28 & that’s surreal to think about. We are constantly left wondering and picturing what kind of man you would be, where would you and I be in life together right now, taking everything on side by side as bonded siblings ❤️ I know you would have continued to grow up to be the best brother, son, uncle, father and friend ❤️ You were destined for greatness and the lasting memories and legacy you’ve left on all that we’re lucky enough to know you, proves that.
