What did the project teach you that the plan didn’t? 💙

The supplies are put away. The checklist is complete. But what you learned deserves a little attention, too.

Maybe a conversation challenged an assumption. A community partner explained a need you hadn’t considered. Or a teammate brought an unexpected talent to the table.

Volunteering isn’t only about what we accomplish. It’s also an opportunity to listen, rethink, and understand our neighbors a little better.

Before moving on to the next project, ask yourself:

“What do I understand now that I didn’t understand before?”

At Blakeslee Rotary, those insights are worth carrying forward. They can help us plan more thoughtfully and make the next effort more useful.

A patient explanation. An encouraging word. Someone who sees potential in a student who hasn’t seen it in themselves yet.

On World Teachers’ Day, Blakeslee Rotary celebrates the educators who do more than teach lessons—they help young people discover what they’re capable of.

Thank you for the preparation no one sees, the questions you welcome, and the everyday moments you turn into opportunities to learn. Your dedication reaches beyond the classroom and into the heart of our community.

Help Feed a Veteran for the Holidays. 🇺🇸❤️

This holiday season, Blakeslee Rotary is collecting food items to help support local veterans and their families. Even one or two items added to your grocery cart can help make someone’s holiday a little brighter.

Most-needed items include turkey or free turkey coupons, cranberry sauce, stuffing, brown rice, gravy, orange juice, canned corn, canned green beans, pie filling, pie crust, cake mix, and cake frosting.

Sometimes the missing resource is not money. 💙

A community project might not need funding first.
It might need a truck.
A meeting room.
A translator.
A printer.
Storage space.
A subject-matter expert.
Or simply an introduction to the right person.

When organizations can clearly name what they need — and what they can offer — collaboration gets stronger, faster, and more effective.

At Blakeslee Rotary, we know some of the best community progress happens when people share resources, not just dollars.

People join organizations. They stay for a reason. 💙

For some, it’s friendship.
For others, it’s the chance to solve a local problem.
To learn from people outside their profession.
To mentor someone younger.
Or to finally turn concern into action.

There isn’t one “right” reason to get involved.

What matters is finding a reason meaningful enough to protect time for on your calendar.

At Blakeslee Rotary, people come together for different reasons but they stay because the connection is real, the purpose is clear, and the impact matters.

The best time to prepare for a need is before it becomes urgent. 💙

Back-to-school season, colder weather, holiday needs, and winter travel all seem to arrive faster than expected.

That’s why planning early matters.

When community groups, businesses, schools, and volunteers start thinking ahead, we can respond with more intention and make a bigger impact when the need arrives.

Maybe it’s school supplies.
Maybe it’s winter clothing.
Maybe it’s holiday support.
Maybe it’s transportation or safety during colder months.

No, you do not need to know Robert’s Rules to visit us. 💙

Your first Rotary meeting is not an audition.

You can come in, listen, ask questions, meet a few neighbors, and simply see how the club works.

No special vocabulary.
No pressure to join on the spot.
No expectation that you already know how everything works.

If curiosity is the only thing bringing you through the door, that is enough.

Sometimes the hardest part is just showing up once.

Adults do not have a monopoly on good community ideas. 💙

Young people experience our schools, parks, roads, programs, and public spaces in ways adults sometimes miss.

They notice what works.
They notice what feels outdated.
They notice what could be better.

And sometimes, one simple answer can open the door to a really important conversation.

So here’s a challenge: ask a student in your life,
“If you could improve one thing in our community, what would it be?”

Then come back and share their answer with us.
