Our fellows spent the weekend at our first ever GMW Teen Shabbaton! Along with Iris, TILC, and Federation’s Rishonim, our Diller fellows explored their Jewish identities, learned about different Jewish perspectives, and built meaningful connections with one another. From creating Jewish identity sand art and enjoying the outdoors to playing BeanBoozled and strengthening their sense of community, it was a weekend full of memorable moments! Welcome, Cohort 20! This past Sunday, we welcomed our newest fellows to the Diller GMW family! We kicked off the day with fellows, parents, and alumni at orientation, where alumni Ryan, Addy, and Naomi shared favorite Diller memories and advice for the year ahead.

We were also grateful to hear from Evyatar and Ilay David, who shared their experiences both in captivity, being an advocate, and the journey of recovery. We are so thankful they took the time to share their stories with us.

After lunch, fellows got to know each other, met their JCs, Sadie and Maya, and started building the connections that will shape this year. It was a great first mifgash, and we can’t wait for the year ahead! 💙

This past Sunday, Cohort 19 officially graduated from Diller! We are so proud of this incredible group and all they’ve learned, accomplished, and experienced together throughout their year. 10 days after returning from three incredible weeks in Israel, our Diller Teen Fellows were back together again, this time welcoming our friends from Rishon LeZion to GMW for Jewish Community Mifgash (JCM)! 🇮🇱💙🇺🇸

Our 2026 JCM was a week full of fun, meaningful moments, and lots of time to continue building the friendships we started in Israel. From sharing our community with the RLZ cohort, to dinners, activities, and a Shabbaton together, we made so many more memories as one group.

It was so special to see our GMW and Rishon fellows reconnect. We are so grateful for the friendships and connections that we made. Can’t wait to see everyone again soon!

At our final mifgash before ISS, we kicked off the day with an inspiring conversation with Tessa Veksler. We were honored to hear about her journey, experiences, and advice, and grateful to Fellows Rafi and Violet for helping lead the discussion. It was the perfect way to start our last mifgash before Israel. Next stop: ISS! 🇮🇱✈️ We can’t wait to meet the rest of Diller and begin an incredible summer! 🇮🇱

Tikkun Olam is not just a slogan. It is a call to action, an embodiment of our values, carried l’dor v’dor, from generation to generation. 💙✨

Gabi Sabony, Coordinator of Diller Teen Fellows, and Samantha Meyler, Coordinator of Teen Experiential Learning, from Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ were recognized at Congregation Ahavas Sholom’s Tikkun Olam Awards for their leadership in organizing a volunteer effort supporting Newark’s most vulnerable residents.

On December 14, a major snowstorm hit. Roads closed. Plans stalled. But the work didn’t. Volunteers still showed up to pack and distribute essential supplies, because the people counting on them couldn’t wait.

Their leadership met an urgent need and created space for teens to step up and be part of something bigger than themselves.

In a room filled mostly with adults, our teens were welcomed and treated as such. Not someday. Now.

This is what it looks like when values turn into action across a community, carried forward from one generation to the next.

Lesson from the night: We do not wait for perfect conditions to do the right thing.

This past Sunday at our mifgash, fellows dove into learning about Israeli democracy and society 🇮🇱

Fellows explored different perspectives on Israeli democracy through a debate activity. Yoav taught about how the Israeli government works and answered all kinds of questions about life in Israel during an open Q&A.

Simon and Ava presented their fellow stages and Max presented his staff stage!
