Vote. Your life depends on it. 🗳️

The Muslim Civic Coalition joined Allies United, an intersectional, multiracial, and multi-faith coalition of Illinois organizations, for a press conference and panel urging Illinois residents to register, make a plan, and vote ahead of the November 3 general election.

Speakers highlighted what’s at stake for our communities, the importance of voter turnout, and the need to protect every eligible voter’s right to cast a ballot.

Our health care, schools, safety, and livelihoods are shaped by who shows up. We cannot protect our rights if we do not exercise them.

Early voting continues! Make a plan, bring your people, and know your rights.

We’re honored to have a letter to the editor from our Executive Director Amina Barhumi published in the Chicago Sun-Times today, highlighting how voting is an act of justice and hope for our communities.

Our faith calls us to be engaged citizens, to support the oppressed and uphold justice. And when we all vote, we elect just leaders, protect our communities and create the future we deserve.

As Election Day approaches, read her full letter and reflect on how we can put our faith into action.

On Friday, October 2, we joined the community at the Islamic Center of McLean County in Bloomington-Normal for Jummah, GOTV tabling, and a civic justice workshop. The following day, we spent time in Peoria meeting local partners, touring community institutions, and listening to community members during an evening listening session.

Thank you to everyone who welcomed us and shared their experiences and perspectives! 💚
