We had so much fun yesterday and today at CarrollWorks 2026! We loved talking with 7th graders about the different roles at CARE Healing Center and how our team works together to support survivors.

On behalf of the CARE Healing Center staff and Board of Trustees, thank you to everyone who joined us for our 3rd Annual Lighting the Way for Survivors Vigil.

It was an incredibly impactful evening, and we are grateful to everyone who came together to honor survivors, share messages of hope, and show that survivors in Carroll County are not alone. Every person who attended helped reinforce our commitment to creating a safer, more supportive community where survivors are believed, supported, and surrounded by people who care.

Thank you for standing with survivors and helping us light the way toward a future free from sexual violence.

The news coming out about Cornell is heartbreaking and infuriating. That should never have happened, and no one should have to navigate sexual violence without being believed, supported, and protected. Perpetrators must be held accountable, and institutions have a responsibility to take sexual violence seriously and protect those who come forward.

And while we need to continue demanding accountability from perpetrators and from the systems and institutions that are supposed to protect survivors, we also want to remind survivors that you do not have to watch. You do not have to read every article. You do not have to follow every update.

If this news is bringing up memories, emotions, or trauma for you, it is okay to step away. It is okay to turn off the news, log off social media, and take care of yourself.

Stepping away does not mean you don’t care. Protecting yourself is not the same as looking away.
