Special Olympics Ohio Northeast Region The Northeast Region is a branch of Special Olympics Ohio serving more than 5000 athletes in Greater We currently serve more than 30 local organizations.

Special Olympics Ohio provides sports training and competition opportunities to persons with intellectual disabilities in counties surrounding the greater Cleveland area.

🌟 Fall Athlete Spotlight 🌟

Meet Richard Stanton, a proud athlete from Mahoning County Special Olympics who has been part of Special Olympics Ohio for an incredible 20 years!

Richard competes in co****le, bowling, and serves as a basketball equipment manager, staying active while making a positive impact on those around him. For Richard, Special Olympics is about more than sports. It has helped him stay active, build friendships, and connect with people from all walks of life.

Inspired by WWE superstars John Cena and Roman Reigns, Richard brings determination and enthusiasm to everything he does. His favorite pre-game meal is mashed potatoes, and you'll often find him getting pumped up with "Who Let the Dogs Out" by the Baha Men before competition.

One of Richard's proudest accomplishments was being named Athlete of the Year and earning the coveted athlete jacket. Looking ahead, his goal is simple: continue improving and bring home a gold medal.

🌟 Fall Athlete Spotlight🌟

Meet Brian Booth and Bruce Hubach. These two have been involved in Special Olympics for a combined 36 years!

Bruce competed this past golf season as Brians Unified Golf Partner, he has also competed in bowling. Bruce says in his 16 years his best memories are the joy and smiles on all of the Special Olympics Athletes while they compete.

Brian has been competing in Special Olympics for 20 years and proudly represents Hudson County. He competes in both Golf and Swimming.

With the support of Brians parents and the encouragement they give him, he has been able to grow within Special Olympics as an athlete but also off of the playing field!

Brian's goal going into next season is to keep competing at the Regional and State Events. His hidden talent? Being a hard worker who never gives up!

Keep up the great work, Brian and Bruce! Your dedication, sportsmanship, and passion for Special Olympics inspire everyone around you

Are you passionate about making a difference through sports and inclusion? Join Special Olympics Ohio as a Local Coordinator (Co-Coordinator Model) and help create year-round opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities right here in Cuyahoga County!

🏀 About the Role
This position is shared by two co-coordinators who will work together to lead all aspects of the local program—from sports and volunteers to events and community partnerships.

💼 What You’ll Do
Plan and oversee sports training and competitions
Recruit and support coaches and volunteers
Manage program operations, budgets, and reporting
Coordinate seasons, events, and facilities
Support fundraising and statewide initiatives
Serve as the main point of contact for athletes, families, and partners

💡 What to Know
This is a volunteer position with a monthly stipend
Requires flexibility, including evenings and weekends
A great opportunity to lead, connect, and make a lasting impact

🌟 Spring Athlete Spotlight: Brendan Rosplock🌟

For 16 years, Brendan Rosplock has been a dedicated athlete with Special Olympics Ohio, building not only his skills across a wide range of sports, but also lasting friendships and a strong sense of community. Representing Lake County Special Olympics, Brendan currently competes in softball, unified golf, alpine skiing, and tennis, and over the years has also participated in volleyball, swimming, track and field, bowling, and basketball. His willingness to try new sports and stay active highlights his enthusiasm for competition and growth.

Through Special Olympics, Brendan has found a place where he feels connected and supported. He values the friendships he has made with teammates who share his interests, and he looks forward to each season as a chance to stay active and continue doing what he loves. For Brendan, the experience goes far beyond sports, it’s about being part of something meaningful.

Brendan finds inspiration in the people around him, especially his coaches and teammates, whose encouragement motivates him to keep improving and giving his best effort. Whether he’s getting ready with a pre-game meal of noodles and salad or listening to Old Time Rock and Roll by Bob Seger, he brings energy and excitement to every competition.

Outside of sports, Brendan enjoys a variety of hobbies that showcase both his creativity and his adventurous spirit. From video games and fishing to making 3D pen art and rubber band bracelets.

One of Brendan’s proudest accomplishments is winning the State Softball Championship in his division two years in a row. Looking ahead, he has his sights set on returning to the state competition in softball and continuing to build on that success.

With his positive attitude, commitment, and love for sports, Brendan continues to demonstrate the power of perseverance, friendship, and the joy of competition.

🌟 Spring Athlete Spotlight: Aaron Dallner 🌟

Meet Aaron Dallner from Portage County Special Olympics! Aaron has been involved with Special Olympics Ohio for 15 years and competes in powerlifting and flag football. 💪🏈

Aaron says Special Olympics has helped him stay active and healthy while also giving him the opportunity to meet new people and make lifelong friendships through Special Olympics. ❤️

His biggest inspirations are his parents, who continue to support him and encourage him to achieve his goals every step of the way.

One of Aaron’s proudest accomplishments was competing at the 2022 USA Games in Orlando, where he placed 3rd in his division for the powerlifting deadlift with an impressive 375-pound lift! He even had the opportunity to be interviewed by Tim Tebow. 🏅

A few fun facts about Aaron:
🍗 Favorite pre-game meal: Chicken, steak, and rice
🎶 Favorite pump-up song: “We Are the Champions” by Queen
🎮 Hobbies outside of sports: Playing video games and taking care of his dog

This season, Aaron is working hard toward new strength goals of lifting 405 pounds on deadlift and 315 pounds on bench press! 🔥

We are so proud of Aaron and excited to continue cheering him on! 💙
