Please join us this Wednesday, May 13th, at 6:30 PM in the carriage house of the Babcock Smith House Museum located at 124 Granite Street in Westerly for a free presentation on the history of the Watch Hill Lighthouse and the Watch Hill Life Saving Station.

This event is co-sponsored by the Watch Hill Lighthouse Keepers Association and the Westerly Historical Society.

It is free and open to the public. Free refreshments will be available.

The Watch Hill Lighthouse Keepers Association is co-sponsoring this educational event with the Westerly Historical Society. Please join us on Wednesday night at 6:30 for a presentation on the Wreck of the Onondaga, a steam powered freighter which sank off Watch Hill Point while evading a German U-boat during World War I.

The wreckage is a very popular diving site and several artifacts that have been salvaged from the wreck will be on display.

The presentation is free and open to the public.

Please join us tomorrow!! We are co-sponsoring this free public program on the sinking of the steamer Larchmont after colliding with the schooner Harry Knowlton.

Join Daniel Harrington as he tells the story of Rhode Island’s version of the Titanic. Hundreds of lives were lost off the coast of Westerly on a cold, windy, and snowy night on February 11th of 1907.

Let us remember the story on the anniversary of that fateful night.

The Watch Hill Lighthouse welcomed more than 75,000 visitors in 2025! Our guests included local members of our community, as well as visitors from around the world. They enjoyed the opportunity to visit the property, tour our museum, and soak in the spectacular views. We are looking forward to seeing you in 2026!
