Earlier today, House Veterans' Affairs Committee Chair Rep. Sam Azzinaro presented a citation of appreciation to retired US Army Staff Sergeant Stephan A. Blanche.

SSG Blanche received his honorable discharge in 1965, but due to a fire at the national military archives building, his military history was lost. Chairman Azzinaro joined House Veterans' Advisory Council President Kevin McDonald, who served with SSG Blanche, to thank him and recognize him as a veteran of our country's armed forces.

Tonight, at our monthly meeting Phillip Maniscalco was presented with an award of appreciation by Past Commanders Bill Siano and John Barber for all of his dedication to VFW Post 8955. Especially for all of the organizing of the flag retirement services and for organizing the parade color guards. His undying dedication to the post is a direct reflection of the honor and gratitude he has for all of those who sacrificed their lives in the Vietnam war.
