💡⚽🎨 Exciting Updates from the Stonington Community Center (COMO)!

One of Stonington’s most cherished institutions has a fresh new look and a renewed commitment to what makes it truly special. The Stonington Community Center, better known as the COMO, recently unveiled its updated mission and branding, and the results are inspiring.

Their mission? To inspire a welcoming, collaborative and engaged community through intellectual growth, active play, and creative expression. In short: Learn. Play. Create.

And they’re living that mission every day through a wide range of programs and community offerings that bring people together across all ages:

🎓 Top-tier early childhood education: COMO’s nationally-accredited preschool continues to be in high demand — families are encouraged to register early due to consistent waitlists.

🏓 Elite paddle tennis programming: With instruction led by Jerry Albrikes, a nationally-recognized teaching professional, COMO’s paddle program is a standout.

🏀⚽🎾 Youth athletics with rising talent: From soccer to basketball and tennis, COMO’s sports programs are run by TJ Faeth, a recent recipient of the OCCC’s 50 under 50 award for excellence.

🛍️ A thrift store with heart (and style): The COMO Thrift Shop is not just a great place to shop, it's a major fundraising engine, hosting popular after-hours events like Fall Into Fashion and Tinsel & Treasure.

🏺 An expanded pottery studio is on the way, offering more space for independent artists and amazing instructors — perfect for creatives of all skill levels.

🌞 Summer fun for every child: From Camp COMO to specialty camps like Sports, Pottery, and Creative Writing, there’s something for every camper.

🎒 Year-round care and enrichment: The COMO Kids program offers before and after-school care that’s enriching, engaging, and fun.

🏖️ DuBois Beach access: With beach passes available, it’s the perfect local destination for summer relaxation and family fun.

🤝 Strong community partnerships: COMO works closely with local nonprofits like YFH and Historic Stonington, emphasizing collaboration and civic engagement through creative programs like cooking classes and LEGO events.

🎉 Community events that connect: From the beloved Village Fair and elegant Annual Gala to panel discussions, parent groups, and more, the COMO is a hub of connection and celebration.

Whether you’re looking to get involved, enroll a child, attend an event, or simply support a great cause, the COMO is a cornerstone of the Stonington community. And now it’s more vibrant and welcoming than ever!
