The Friends of the Walker Memorial Library Raffle Calendar is here!

For just $10 for 1 ticket or 3 tickets for $25, you'll have the chance to win every single day in July! That's 31 opportunities to take home one of the many fantastic prizes generously donated by our amazing local businesses.

Not only could you be a winner, but you'll also be supporting a great cause. Proceeds from the raffle help the Friends of the Walker Memorial Library provide:

Adventure awaits at Walker Memorial Library's Summer Reading Challenge 2026!

Get ready to turn pages, explore new worlds, and make this summer one to remember! The Summer Reading Challenge runs from June 17 through August 16, and readers of ALL ages are invited to join the fun.

Grand prizes will be awarded in four age groups:
-Babies–PreK
-Kindergarten–7th Grade
-Grades 8–12
-Adults

Here's how it works:
- Read for at least 30 days this summer.
-Read 20 minutes or more each day.
-Complete the challenge and you'll be entered into our End-of-Summer Raffle for some cool prizes!

And everyone who completes the challenge will receive a special summer reading bookmark (available for pickup during library open hours).

What counts as reading? Almost everything!
-Books
-Audiobooks
-Graphic novels
-Ebooks
-Magazines
-Non-fiction

Even being read to by someone else counts!

Want to earn even more chances to win? Go above and beyond! If you read for 60 days, you'll earn a second entry into our End-of-Summer Raffle.

Track your reading online through Beanstack or pick up a paper reading log at the library.

Teens and adults can take on an extra challenge, too! Read a book, submit a review, and earn entries into our bi-weekly raffles for book-themed prizes from June 17 through August 17.

Stop by the library, sign up beginning June 17, and make reading part of your summer adventure. We can't wait to celebrate all the stories you'll discover!

Library cardholders can check out a pass to Maine's Botanical Garden that admits 2 adults and accompanying children at no cost. One pass is available each day and can be borrowed by asking at the circulation desk.

Join the Friends of the Walker Memorial Library for our Annual Meeting on Saturday, May 30th.

The business portion of the meeting will begin at 10:30 AM, followed by a special presentation by Nigel Osborne from 11:00 AM–12:00 PM on exploring Maine and discovering some of its hidden gems.

Whether you love local adventures, want to learn more about Maine, or are curious about what the Friends group does to support the library and community, this is a great opportunity to connect and get involved.

It's a Pokémon Club! This Saturday, May 16th from 1-2pm in the youth services program room at the Walker Memorial Library!

Learn how to play the Pokémon card game, or just have fun crafting and hanging out with other Pokémon fans! Come to any or all of the club meetings! For ages 5 to 18. Ages 8 and under must be with caregiver.
In May, the Walker Memorial Library will have Pokémon Club meetings on the 2nd and 4th week of the month on Thursday 3:30-4:30pm and Saturday 1-2pm.
Thursday, May 14th 3:30-4:30pm
Saturday, May 16th 1-2pm
Thursday, May 28th 3:30-4:30pm
Saturday, May 30th 1-2pm
