The Winter Games wouldn’t be the Winter Games without the educators who bring them to life!

As we get ready to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Winter Games, we’re celebrating some of the teachers who have made winter a season for movement, learning, community, and FUN year after year.

❄️ Laura has led West Bath Elementary to multiple top-five finishes and, last winter, brought the Winter Games to all three schools where she teaches—getting nearly 300 kids outside and embracing winter.

❄️ Lindsay has led Rangeley Lakes Regional School through seven seasons of the Winter Games, culminating in a gold medal in 2025. Today, RLRS continues in the Play Along track, with WinterKids activities woven into their winter traditions.

❄️ Marni has been bringing the Winter Games to Jonesport Elementary since 2019, including a silver medal in 2020 and gold in 2022. She continues to keep her students moving, learning, and playing outside through the Play Along track.

These are the educators who make the magic happen! They take an idea and turn it into snowy recesses, classroom lessons, winter adventures, and memories their students carry with them.

Here’s to 10 years of Winter Games and the teachers who have made every one of them possible.

Back to school brings the new year, which brings the Winter Games!

More than 10,000 Maine students take part in the WinterKids Winter Games each year, getting outside, staying active, and connecting movement with learning.

Each week brings a new theme, along with materials and fun incentives that help students put what they’re learning into action. And their teachers see if happenings in real time:

“This week’s focus on heart health gave students a meaningful way to connect movement, wellness, and learning. Each student received their own stopwatch and learned how to take their pulse—a hands-on skill that helped them understand how their hearts respond to different types of activity. It was wonderful to see students making real-life connections about how exercise, rest, and mindfulness affect their bodies.”
