VOLUNTEERS NEEDED If anyone is free tomorrow - Sat 25th April, we are looking for volunteers to help on set with KYS a short film I am directing, written and being acted in by foster youth. I also need some actors to volunteer to play various one - two line guests at gala roles - will need to bring a black tie or event type outfit - give me a call soonest. It will be a fun day. The location is in Burbank.

We have some exciting upcoming events this weekend.

Artists for Change in association with Father-Con will be doing a free screening of film directed by our founder Julia Verdin on Friday 17th April at 6pm at Douglas F. Dollarhide community centre, Compton, California.

Julia Verdin will be doing a panel after with homeless experts Dr. Vince Beresford, CEO of The Dream Center, and Benjamin Kay, from HOPICS!

Julia Verdin will also be leading a workshop on social impact filmmaking on sat 18th April at 10am at the same venue so if you want to learn how to tell a story that moved you into a movie go and hear how.

It was a great experience having I was Silent Until… the film I directed that was written by and starring foster youth at the Pan African Film Festival. So proud of my cast and great to see them blossom and shine. Loved meeting the other directors too at the DGA lunch and some inspiring speeches were made. Love and feel blessed it’s what I put all my time into.

If anyone is in the long beach area, there will be a screening an Q+A at Long Beach College tonight of Maya, feature film about dangers on online media predators and teen trafficking that I directed , please check it out. Our lead actress Isabella Feliciana will be doing a Q+A along with some experts. If you know a youth group or college who would like to use this film to educate teenagers and parents about this, please let us know.

We were proud to support Kids in The Spotlight I was Silent Until… a short film directed by our founder Julia Verdin and written and acted by foster youth about rascism and sexual abuse in the army written and acted in by foster youth.

Artists for change is proud to support I WAS SILENT UNTIL... a short movie written by foster youths and directed by Julia Verdin, which portrays the sexual abuse experienced by men and women in the US navy.
Abuse doesn't stop until it's stopped. Ignoring it doesn't make you strong, it might destroy someone else's life too.
Thank you to everyone who helped bring this story to life on screen.
