Nutmeg Spinners Guild

Nutmeg Spinners Guild Connecticut's statewide Guild for Handspinners To that end, we meet five times a year, with a fiber program at each meeting. Don’t know how to spin?

The Guild has a large, active membership with a mission of promoting spinning, dyeing and fiber-related crafts by educating and inspiring fiber artists. Some of the programs are run by members and some of our presenters are well known fiber artists, including in the past Rita Buchanan, Celia Quinn, Alden Amos, and Sharon Costello. We also sponsor occasional workshops. Many of our members are avail

able to demonstrate or teach spinning, as well as other fiber arts. Membership in the Guild is open to all with an interest in spinning yarn. Come join us and someone will be happy to help you learn. Guests are welcome. Membership costs $25 per year, and runs from July 1 to June 30. Membership benefits include a newsletter published 5 times a year, use of the Guild library, full access to the website, and advance notice of workshops sponsored by the guild. Guest fee is $20 for guest speaker programs, $5 if the program does not feature a guest speaker (such as our February meetings). We meet at St. John's Episcopal Church, 679 Farmington Avenue in West Hartford, CT on the first Saturday of October, the second Saturday of December, and the first Saturday of February, April and June. Meetings start promptly 9:30 am and continue until mid-afternoon. At each meeting, we have an assortment of vendors should you need to enhance your stash or equipment. Bring a bag lunch and a cup for coffee or tea, your spinning wheel, spindle or knitting, and join us for a fun day!

Message from Guild Member Chris Emm:

Hi, I have 2 sets of old Spin Off Magazines available for free if anyone wants them. One set is apparently pretty complete back to before it was actually a magazine, when it was a newsletter. The other is kind of hit or miss with assorted issues, one from 1992, one from 2003, then some complete years some partial years, and some missing years, from 2004 to 2010.
If you're interested in either of these sets, comment here, and Chris will see the comment.
