Nutmeg Spinners Guild

Nutmeg Spinners Guild Connecticut's statewide Guild for Handspinners To that end, we meet five times a year, with a fiber program at each meeting. Don’t know how to spin?

The Guild has a large, active membership with a mission of promoting spinning, dyeing and fiber-related crafts by educating and inspiring fiber artists. Some of the programs are run by members and some of our presenters are well known fiber artists, including in the past Rita Buchanan, Celia Quinn, Alden Amos, and Sharon Costello. We also sponsor occasional workshops. Many of our members are avail

able to demonstrate or teach spinning, as well as other fiber arts. Membership in the Guild is open to all with an interest in spinning yarn. Come join us and someone will be happy to help you learn. Guests are welcome. Membership costs $25 per year, and runs from July 1 to June 30. Membership benefits include a newsletter published 5 times a year, use of the Guild library, full access to the website, and advance notice of workshops sponsored by the guild. Guest fee is $20 for guest speaker programs, $5 if the program does not feature a guest speaker (such as our February meetings). We meet at St. John's Episcopal Church, 679 Farmington Avenue in West Hartford, CT on the first Saturday of October, the second Saturday of December, and the first Saturday of February, April and June. Meetings start promptly 9:30 am and continue until mid-afternoon. At each meeting, we have an assortment of vendors should you need to enhance your stash or equipment. Bring a bag lunch and a cup for coffee or tea, your spinning wheel, spindle or knitting, and join us for a fun day!

One of our own Nutmeg Spinners!

Welcome to Squirrel Munchy Fiber Arts ❤️

Hi there! My name is Jay, and I’m a fiber artist in Sandy Hook, CT. I work with raw wool and transform it into beautifully processed, handspun yarn—all from my home!

I also work with other fibers like cotton, acrylic, and chenille to create fun products such as stuffed animals, plant hangers, hats, mittens, and so much more! I love transforming fibers into beautiful, useful, and unique pieces. Everything is handmade with care, right here in Connecticut, by me. 🌿

Curious about my products? Head over to the Toy Tree in Newtown, CT, and check out my handmade stuffies! 🧸

I also recently set up a little farmstand at the bottom of my driveway, where I’ll be selling my handmade products along with my homegrown plants. Yes, I’m also a gardener! 😍

📍 Want to visit the farmstand? PM me for the location.

Thank you so much for supporting my small business! ❤️

Guildmates, I'm trying to train the algorythm and expand the page's reach a bit. If you run or are connected to a local fiber shop or relevant organization, name drop in the comments.

Spinners, leadership is looking for fresh ideas to invigorate the Guild. If you can't make the brainstorming meeting in person, drop your ideas in the comments below. I think a few field trips would be fun, but where? 🤔👇

What's everyone working on this rainy day? I'm not locked in to this year's Tour de Fleece, but I am trying to do a little fiber related something or other for the duration of the race. I'm going to try this merino/ milk blend from Divine Dyeworks for the first time today.
Since this is a public page, all are welcome to comment and follow us and if you like the community, please consider joining the Guild for in-person meets and access to the private chat group. 😊

It is with the greatest sympathy that we share the news of the passing of one of our long‑time guild members, Alice Faber.

Alice was a deeply dedicated member of the Nutmeg Spinners Guild, and the guiding hand behind our social media presence here on Facebook. If you’ve ever reached out with a question, or enjoyed one of our posts, you were seeing Alice’s care and hard work in action.

She was a passionate spinner, a compassionate soul, and a wonderful friend to so many. Alice was always willing to share her knowledge, encourage new spinners, and demonstrate the craft she loved. She was often on the move—spindle in hand—ready to teach, support, or simply bring joy to those around her.

Alice will be profoundly missed by our entire community.
May she rest in peace.
