We are thrilled to welcome Kate Wyly, who is joining CSO as a substitute concertmaster. You will get a chance to see her lead us at our first concert of the season on November 8.

Kate is a violinist from Ithaca, NY currently studying towards a masters in Violin Performance and Suzuki Pedagogy at the Hartt School of Music in Hartford, CT with Katie Lansdale and Teri Einfeldt. She received her bachelor’s from Oberlin Conservatory with Francesca dePasquale where she particularly loved exploring new forms of music making, performing for the United Nations General Assembly in Carnegie Hall, and traveling with her quartet in Uruguay.

She has performed as concertmaster with the Hartt Orchestra, Oberlin Orchestra, Brevard Orchestra, and Cayuga Chamber Orchestra Youth Orchestra with whom she also performed Mendelssohn’s violin concerto. Kate has enjoyed teaching violin and piano since age 11. She is passionate about sharing the joys of music with all interested children and audiences and embracing music’s ability to foster connection, creativity, and change.

We are proud to learn that one of our own musicians, Katelyn Jackie, has been selected as a "40 Under 40" honoree by the Hartford Business Journal! Katelyn is co-owner and director of sales and marketing at Poly-Tech America LLC, and has been playing the cello with us for 10 years now. Congratulations Katelyn!

We are happy to announce our 2026-2027 season! This season we four performances, at various venues in the Hartford area:

+ Nov 8: "Where Shadows Speak," 3pm, Artists Collective, Hartford
+ Feb 7: "Fate's Kiss," 3pm, Congregation Beth Israel, West Hartford
+ Apr 10: "Steps in the Dark," 7pm, Northwest Catholic High School, West Hartford
+ Jun 6: "Painted Fantasy," 3pm, Congregation Beth Israel, West Hartford

The Connecticut Symphony Orchestra has created an honorary chair program. Anyone may contribute to create an honorary chair to honor or memorialize a loved one or special person. The contribution to create an honorary chair is a total of $5,000, minimum, and all donated funds will be placed in the orchestra’s endowment fund. All donors to a given honorary chair will be acknowledged by the treasurer for their tax deductible donations, and their names will be listed in the program with their respective honorary chair. A proclamation will be presented to commemorate the establishment of each new honorary chair.

We want to shout out a big "thank you!" to all of you who supported CSO in the Birdies for Charity Campaign. Our goal was to raise $15,000... We met and exceeded this goal by raising over $18,000!

Contributions included members paying their dues, members and supporters who contributed to our inaugural Honorary Chair Program, and supporters who donated just to help our orchestra.

This money allows us to bring strong music programming to the community in the 2026-2027 season and beyond. Again, we are so grateful for your support.

At our June concert we recognized our second honorary chair, or in this case, an honorary podium. We chose to honor Maestro Paul McShee and the memory of his father, who passed away this spring.

As a thank you, Paul shared the following words:

"Michael McShee was a great believer in the power of music to make everyone’s life a little bit brighter. Whether it was Carmen Miranda, Leonard Cohen or Mozart, he knew how much music matters to the world, and his whole family is beyond touched at this beautiful tribute."
