Homeless Tails is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to saving the lives of homeless animals in northern New Jersey. We all deserve it !

Homeless Tails is a non-profit 501(c)(3) cat rescue organization dedicated to saving and finding loving homes for cats who were abandoned, abused, neglected or simply were not lucky enough to find a forever home. We provide low cost spay/neuter, temporary shelter, adoptions and Trap-Neuter-Return services to all cats in need. Homeless Tails gives a chance to cats life and society were not kind to. We strive to right the wrong others did. Our mission is to save as many cats as we can and give them a chance to be happy and loved.

Meet Otter 🦦🤎

This sweet-faced boy is hot off the streets and already stealing hearts.

Otter was found in an area deemed too dangerous to return to — but honestly, we think the universe had a different plan for him anyway. This boy was meant for soft beds, full bowls, gentle hands and a family to call his own. 🥹

He’s still getting comfortable at the Catfe and figuring out this whole “indoor cat” thing, but so far he doesn’t seem to mind his new furry roommates. And people? He’s a BIG fan. ❤️

Otter has the most ridiculously supersized, chubby paws 🐾, the kindest eyes, and a personality to match. He’s easy to love, quick to purr, and absolutely melts when you sweet-talk him. Tell him he’s handsome and you’ve pretty much made a friend for life. 🥰

And Otter is certainly holding true to something we’ve said time and time again — FIV+ cats are ALWAYS some of the sweetest cats you’ll ever meet. ❤️ There’s just something extra special about these boys, and Otter is no exception.

It’s hard to imagine those big chubby paws ever having to navigate the streets. We’d much rather see them stretched out on someone’s couch.

Otter is safe now.
He’s loved now.
The only thing missing is home. 🏡❤️

😾 Admittedly, Jazzy has a serious case of resting B! #% face.* 😂

But don’t judge this book by its cover, because underneath that permanently unimpressed expression is one VERY sweet girl boss. 💅❤️

Her new furry roommates? Yeah… they annoy her. 😂 But in Jazzy’s defense, she JUST finished raising a whole litter of babies and quite frankly, she has had enough of everyone’s nonsense. Mama is ready for her own life now!

Jazzy is still a young cat herself, and when she’s not giving the other cats the side-eye, she LOVES to play, soak up attention, and give her humans the sweetest little head bonks. 🥹

Jazzy and her babies were rescued from a bodega where they were no longer wanted. 😭 And as sad as that sounds, it turned out to be the best thing that could have happened to them. Her babies are safe, loved, and have found their homes.

Now it’s Mama’s turn. ❤️

We just know there’s someone out there who will take one look at that grumpy little face and say, “Yep. That’s my girl.”

Jazzy is ready for her happily ever after—resting B face and all. 😾💕

We truly have NO idea how Chowder is still available. 🧡

This sweet, gentle boy is the total package. Chowder adores people, loves playtime, is always ready for cuddle time…and perhaps most importantly, he takes dinner time VERY seriously. 😂 He’s just an all-around happy, jovial guy who seems grateful for every bit of love that comes his way.

But life wasn’t always this easy for Chowder.

He was found struggling on the streets, and for a cat as submissive and gentle as Chowder, surviving outside can be especially difficult. He wasn’t the cat who was going to fight his way to the food source or stand his ground against tougher street cats. He was the one who got pushed aside.

Thankfully, a Good Samaritan spotted him and knew this sweet boy needed help. ❤️

Now Chowder is safe at Catfe Montclair, with a warm place to sleep, a full belly and people who adore him. And you can tell just how happy he is to finally be safe.

But this isn’t where we want his story to end.

What we want more than anything is for Chowder to experience something he’s never had before — a home of his very own. 🏡🧡

A couch to curl up on. A person to cuddle with. Toys scattered around the floor. Dinner served every night without ever wondering where his next meal will come from.

Chowder survived the streets. Now it’s time for him to know what it feels like to truly belong.

It didn’t take long for sweet, confident Franklin to steal someone’s heart. ❤️

They say “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure,” and for Franklin, those words couldn’t be more true.

This beautiful boy was once discarded as if his life didn’t matter—as if he wasn’t worth keeping. But Franklin never got that memo. He kept loving, kept trusting, and kept showing everyone he met just how incredibly special he is. 🥹🐾

And now, someone sees exactly what we saw all along: Franklin was never disposable. He was a treasure just waiting to be found. ❤️

From this day forward, he will know what it feels like to be chosen. To be wanted. To have a family who comes home to him and a place he never has to leave.

Wishing Franklin and his new family a lifetime of warm laps, endless cuddles, silly moments, purrs, laughter, and the kind of love that makes you wonder how you ever lived without each other.

You made it home, Franklin. And this time, it’s forever. 🏡❤️🐾

UPDATE: ADOPTER FOUND!!!!

SOS 🆘 URGENT !!!! Paterson Pound is seeking rescues for two kittens eight weeks old. They were found outside by a good Samaritan. They will be heading to the pound shortly. Transportation will be provided.

Another day, another dumped house cat. 💔

Poor sweet Emery was abandoned outside of the pound. Thankfully, when one of our dedicated colony feeders noticed this new sweet boy, she brought him inside and immediately notified Homeless Tails.

And boy, was she right to worry. This sweet, sweet boy would not have survived long outside.

Emery is naturally submissive, gentle, and easygoing, and he’s having no trouble fitting right in at Catfe Montclair. You won’t see him trying to run the room, but he’s more than happy to participate in playtime — and even happier to soak up all the love and attention from staff, volunteers, and guests. ❤️

And on top of his beautiful personality, Emery is one majestic-looking boy. 😻
