We are grateful for the blessings of freedom, the spirit of service, and the privilege of strengthening our communities together. May this day strengthen our shared commitment to justice, compassion, and unity for the benefit of all.

From Sacrifice to Service: Serving People as an Act of Worship

The North East Islamic Community Center (NEICC) recently hosted another inspiring Social Family Night, bringing together community members for an evening of faith, reflection, meaningful conversation, and fellowship.

The program featured Ahmad Elsarkhawy, Clean Water Project Coordinator at Embrace Relief, who delivered an engaging presentation on how serving humanity is one of the highest expressions of worship. Drawing upon experiences from humanitarian work around the world, he reminded attendees that every act of sincere service—whether providing clean water, supporting those in need, or volunteering in our own communities—is an opportunity to seek the pleasure of Allah and leave a lasting impact.

The discussion was thoughtfully facilitated by Harun Alacatağ, who guided an interactive conversation that encouraged participants to reflect on how they can transform everyday acts of kindness into lifelong habits of service.

As always, the evening began with a warm potluck dinner, where families and young professionals shared delicious homemade dishes and strengthened friendships. Following the presentation, the community gathered in prayer before continuing conversations in a welcoming and uplifting atmosphere.

NEICC extends its sincere appreciation to Ahmad Elsarkhawy for sharing his experiences and inspiring our community, to Harun Alacatağ for facilitating the discussion, and to everyone who attended and contributed to another memorable Social Family Night.

We look forward to welcoming everyone to our upcoming NEICC programs as we continue building a community rooted in faith, service, learning, and meaningful connections.

Healthy Choices Today, Stronger Memories Tomorrow

This past weekend, the North East Islamic Community Center (NEICC) was honored to host an inspiring Sisters-Only Brain Health & Wellness Seminar, bringing together women from our community to learn practical ways to protect and strengthen brain health throughout every stage of life.

We were privileged to welcome Dr. Maha Younes, Clinical Psychologist, who shared valuable insights into how our daily habits, emotional well-being, and lifelong learning influence memory and cognitive health. She emphasized that many of the choices we make today can help reduce the risk of cognitive decline and support healthier aging.

Our second presenter, Fatmah Hussein, CPT, CES, Certified Corrective Exercise Specialist, highlighted the powerful connection between physical activity and brain health. She demonstrated how regular movement improves memory, enhances mood, reduces stress, and contributes to long-term mental well-being.

The seminar encouraged participants to invest in themselves by embracing simple but meaningful habits such as:

* Maintaining regular physical activity.
* Keeping the mind active through reading and lifelong learning.
* Managing stress in healthy ways.
* Prioritizing quality sleep.
* Building strong social and family connections.
* Making nutritious food choices that support brain health.

The afternoon concluded with thoughtful discussions, questions, and meaningful conversations among attendees, reflecting our shared commitment to caring for both our physical and mental well-being.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Maha Younes and Fatmah Hussein for sharing their expertise and inspiring our community. We are also grateful to all of the sisters who attended and helped make this event a success.

At NEICC, we believe that caring for our minds and bodies is part of being grateful for the blessings Allah has entrusted to us. We look forward to offering more educational programs that strengthen our community spiritually, mentally, and physically.
