What a wonderful day of creativity and inspiration at Arts Wayland yesterday!

We were thrilled to host The Language of Abstraction, a Margaret Stewart Lindsay Masterclass led by the incredibly talented artist Adria Arch.

Participants explored the world of abstract art, experimenting with color, shape, and composition while discovering new ways to express themselves creatively. It was a fantastic opportunity to learn, connect, and step outside of our artistic comfort zones!

A huge thank you to Adria for sharing her talent, knowledge, and enthusiasm, and to everyone who joined us and made the masterclass such a success.

And a special shoutout to Arts Wayland board member Judi Stein for all her hard work bringing this wonderful event to life. Great job, Judi!

We are especially grateful to the Margaret Stewart Lindsay Foundation for its generous support, which makes special arts education opportunities like this possible in our community.

🎶 Get ready for an afternoon of incredible live jazz-fusion!

Arts Wayland, in association with First Parish in Wayland, is thrilled to present The Chris Nifong Project!

The Berklee College Faculty Jazz Series is under the direction of Neil Olmstead, Professor Emeritus of Piano, Berklee College of Music.

The Chris Nifong Project (CNP) is a six-piece jazz-fusion group playing original compositions by its leader and selectively curated jazz, rock, and blues tunes. Inspired by personal experiences like a trip to Cadillac Mountain in Maine, or the end of a beautiful Vermont summer day, Chris’s pieces reflect the solace of nature in combination with the intensity and fire of contemporary improvised music.

Driven by a reverence for virtuoso guitar technique and a love of melody, Chris’s repertoire references Mike Stern, Allan Holdsworth, John Scofield, The Beatles and Led Zeppelin. For this project, Chris has surrounded himself with nationally known instrumentalists Mark Snyder on bass, Peter Bell on guitar, Bruce Nifong on saxophone, Neil Olmstead on keyboards, and Todd Rhodes on drums. Between them, they have shared the stage with the likes of Bonnie Raitt, The Gary Burton Quartet, Jimmy Guiffre, and The Moody Blues, among others.

Join us this Saturday for The Language of Abstraction: A Masterclass with Adria Arch, an accomplished Boston-based sculptor and painter.

Adria will explore how form, gravity, color and line create their own visual language, and take us through the journey from representation to pure form. Whether you’re an artist or simply someone who has ever looked at an abstract work and wondered, “What am I supposed to see here?” — this masterclass is for you.

Last Friday’s Massachusetts Gothic: Myths and Legends filled the Arts Wayland Gallery for an evening of stories, conversation, and community. It was so much fun to see the gallery packed with people gathered together to celebrate local writers and some wonderfully strange and spooky Massachusetts tales.

What made the night even more special was seeing the work of our incredible intern team come to life. A huge thank you to Emma Croce, Luke Acton, and Shania Velleca for all the creativity, planning, and hard work they put into making the evening happen.

We’re also so grateful to our internship manager, Andrea Blesso, and to Kyra Cook and the Writers Guild of MetroWest for being such wonderful partners in bringing this event together.

And thank you to everyone who came, pulled up a chair, listened, laughed, mingled, and made the gallery feel so warm and alive. Nights like this are exactly why we love having this space. ❤️

Arts Wayland and the Wayland Garden Club are teaming up for a weekend where art and flowers meet!

Six Garden Club members, Alexandra MacKenzie, Michelle Long, Ruth Levin, Elisa Scola, Kate Jenney, and Jean Milburn, each found inspiration in a piece from our September/October Member Exhibit. Their floral arrangements will be displayed right beside the photographs, paintings, and fiber art that sparked them, by Jean-Pierre Ducondi, Kristin Elizabeth, Marian Stanton, and Irina Moroz.
