Empower children and adults with disabilities to reach their full potential. ARCh is designed to offer the following programming – A.B.L.E. A.B.L.E.

ARCh is a tax-exempt non-profit organization that provides programs and services to children and adults with disabilities and their families in Waukesha County. ARCh is a parent-founded organization focusing on the needs of individuals with disabilities. It has been evident since 1952, a need for programs for the community, caregivers, and individuals. (Activities to Build Life Experiences), Advocacy Opportunities for children and adults, and P.A.C.E. (Prevention, Awareness and Community Education). ARCh now serves 13,000 individuals through programs and services. The agency has a membership of 300 people, endless volunteers, 5 full time staff and around 50 part-time or seasonal staff. offers a variety of life skills, adventure, achievement, independence, and recreational and building opportunities for children and adults with disabilities. From Disability Scoop, families of children with disabilities should be aware of a potential downside to the new Trump Accounts program. While the accounts offer investment savings and government-funded deposits, funds may affect SSI eligibility after age 18 if they are not properly transferred to an ABLE account. Planning ahead can help protect important benefits such as SSI and Medicaid.

Special savings accounts that recently debuted may be a boon for families, but experts warn that without careful planning, they could compromise access to disability benefits.

People with disabilities count. Let's make sure they're counted.

Since 1957, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has done an annual health survey that includes counting how many people have disabilities. The CDC is proposing changes to its National Health Interview Survey that would remove several disability-related questions, including questions that help identify people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD).

Why does this matter? Disability data helps inform public policy, services, supports, and federal funding for states and communities. If people with disabilities are undercounted, programs and resources could be affected for years to come.

Advocates say removing these questions will result in people with I/DD being undercounted and could impact federal funding that comes to states to support people with I/DD.

The public comment period is open until October 20.

The verdict is in... Team Purple won!! 💜🏆We had a great time spending our last day flying kites and competing in fun challenges! The Milwaukee Kite Club paid us a visit and taught us how to fly handmade kites. We loved decorating them with our own personal touches! We ended the day with our counselor obstacle course, where Team Purple took home the victory! 🎉Thank you to everyone for making GAINS so special. We can't wait to see you all again next year! 💛

Sirens & Swimming! 🚔🏖️ We had a special visit from the Menomonee Falls Police Department, who gave our Achievers a behind the scenes look at what they do every day. It was a great opportunity to learn how police officers serve our community and why they are everyday heroes! Our Achievers also competed for points in a fun sandcastle building competition and even got to bury their counselors in the sand!⏳
We wrapped up the day with one last swim at the beach, making it the perfect ending to our final beach day of the GAINS season!✨

GAINS, assemble!💥🦸‍♂️🦸‍♀️ We spent our Super Hero Day becoming superheroes ourselves! Achievers had a special visit from our friend Lori, who put on a wonderful puppet show about what it means to be an everyday hero. We showed our own heroism by making lasagna for Lasagna Love, helping provide meals to people in need. Then, just like any superhero on their day off, we recharged with a relaxing yoga session led by Martha. To wrap up our day, we played superhero games like hulk smash and flash relay, and created our very own captain america shields! 🛡️💚🦸 If you could be any superhero, who would you choose to be?
