Thank you Waukegan Mayor Sam Cunningham and the Waukegan City Council for proclaiming the month of June as Immigrant Heritage Month in the City of Waukegan. HACES is honored to receive this proclamation on behalf of the immigrant community that brings, "strength, culture, and character" to the city.

It is through supportive leadership and inclusive communities that immigrants can share their talents, and contribute to building a strong and resilient city for all. Together, we create a community rooted in opportunity, diversity, and collective prosperity.

As an organization proudly based in Waukegan, HACES is proud to call Waukegan home—a community where diversity is celebrated and neighbors support one another to build a welcoming, peaceful, and united city where we can all work and live.

Gracias al alcalde de Waukegan, Sam Cunningham, y al Concejo Municipal de Waukegan por proclamar el mes de junio como el Mes de la Herencia de los Inmigrantes en la Ciudad de Waukegan. HACES se siente honrado de recibir esta proclamación en nombre de la comunidad inmigrante que aporta “fortaleza, cultura y carácter” a nuestra ciudad.

Join us on Friday, July 24, from 3–5 PM at the Waukegan Public Library for an afternoon of fun, community resources, crafts, snacks, and more.

🎒 Free backpacks and school supplies available while supplies last

Backpacks will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Waukegan Mayor Sam Cunningham and the Waukegan City Council proclaimed the month of June as Immigrant Heritage Month in the City of Waukegan and presented the official proclamation to Hispanic American Community Education Services (HACES).

Waukegan is a diverse community whose strength, culture, and character have been profoundly shaped by generations of immigrants from across the world. Immigrant Heritage Month provides an opportunity for all residents of Waukegan to reflect on the history of the city, to celebrate the contributions of immigrant neighbors, and to reaffirm the commitment to being an inclusive and supportive community for all.

Through their leadership, dedication, and passion for serving their communities, these parents have created meaningful projects in their schools—from hygiene bags to school safety initiatives that support students and families.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us for our Diabetes Clinic! 💙

Participants learned more about diabetes prevention and management, received free glucose and A1C screenings, and connected with valuable health resources.

Thank you to our partners RFUHC Community Care Connection and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois, volunteers, and attendees for making this event a success. Together, we're building a healthier community. 🩺✨
