Parents Helping Parents

Parents Helping Parents Empowering parents to nurture their children and give them hope to build stronger families.

Parents Helping Parents is a 40 year young non-profit that provides free parenting support services to parents and caregivers struggling to raise their children. Parents Helping Parents (PHP) recognizes that while parenting can be overwhelming and isolating, it can also be one of the most rewarding and satisfying life experiences. When a parent feels stressed and overburdened, they become less abl

e to provide for their child. At PHP, our goal is to be there for parents when they need extra support; we believe that positive change is always possible. We accomplish this with two services: the Parental Stress Line, and our network of statewide Parent Support Groups.

Back-to-school season can bring excitement, but it can also bring a lot of stress.

New routines, changing schedules, school transitions and added responsibilities can leave parents and caregivers feeling overwhelmed. Last fall, Parent Stress Line counselors answered 1,333 calls from people looking for support.

If this season feels harder than expected, you don’t have to handle it alone. The Parent Stress Line offers free, confidential and anonymous support from trained counselors who listen without judgment.

Call 1-800-632-8188 anytime, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

“You saw me as a person before you saw me as an inmate.”

For more than 35 years, Parents Helping Parents has created spaces where incarcerated mothers and fathers can be heard without judgment, support one another, and strengthen their relationships with their children.

Today, PHP serves nearly 200 incarcerated parents each year through programs at four Massachusetts correctional facilities. This work includes weekly support groups, family activities, recorded storybook readings for children, and resources for parents navigating DCF involvement and foster care.
