Friends of Project Literacy, Watertown MA The Friends of Project Literacy supports the work of Project Literacy, which offers free literacy education to adult students.

The Friends of Project Literacy is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation founded to support the work of Project Literacy. Our board of directors is involved in fundraising and other development and advisory activities to help ensure the continued growth of Project Literacy’s educational programs. Many board members began their involvement as either volunteer tutors or students; all share a commitment

to improving adult literacy in our community. Volunteer

OUR GRANTS MAKE IMPACT -- In Watertown 31% of 16,000 households speak a language other than English at home. About 10% of 35,000 residents have limited English proficiency. Project Literacy helps adults read, write and speak English with the help of our Community Engagement Grant.

See you at the Faire!

The Faire on the Square returns to Saltonstall Park, located at 149 Main Street (next to City Hall and the Library), on Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 12–5 PM!

Featuring 120+ vendors, delicious food, live DJ, inflatables & games, Big Top Tent guest experiences, and so much more!

Don’t miss the Restaurant Chili Cook-Off presented by Roche Bros with free chili samples while supplies last! Watertown Savings Bank is sponsoring popcorn for attendees and the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority’s water truck will also be on site. The day is sure to be fun for all ages — we hope to see you there!

The Watertown Free Public Library’s Project Literacy will offer U.S. citizenship tutor training sessions this spring. These trainings are intended for anyone interested in helping immigrants prepare for all facets of the naturalization process.
