The Capital Pride Alliance joins our community in mourning the loss of Brian Pernell Watson, a visionary leader, devoted advocate, and member of the Capital Pride family.

Brian will be remembered as the founding Executive Director of the Wanda Alston Foundation, a longtime champion of HIV prevention and education, and the second Black man to hold the title of Mr. Capital Pride.

Brian’s legacy will live on through the people he inspired, the community he helped strengthen, and every young person who finds safety, embraces their voice and visibility, experiences the power of belonging, and receives the opportunity to begin again.

We extend our deepest condolences to Brian’s family, friends, loved ones, and all whose lives were touched by his leadership, service, and love for community.
