Sunrise Movement - DC Hub DC hub of Sunrise, a national movement of young people to end the corrupting influence of fossil fuel executives and stop the climate crisis!

Sunrise is a movement of young people uniting to stop the climate crisis and create millions of good-paying jobs in the process. We will make climate change an urgent priority across America and elect leaders who stand up for the health and wellbeing of all people. Sunrise DC is building a powerful Sunrise local hub in Washington, D.C. We're working with local climate justice leaders such as 350 D

C to stop fossil fuels and bring a just and sustainable future to the District. We're also partnering with our allies across the country to hold our elected officials in Congress and the White House accountable, and build the political power we need to stop the climate crisis and safeguard our generation.

In the DC area alone, we’ve seen over 20,000 of our neighbors kidnapped by ICE since Trump took office for the second time. Not only is CEO Chris Nassetta enabling this violence targeting our communities, he’s actually profiting off of it.

By housing these federal agents during enforcement surges, Nassetta is endangering his customers, his workers, and the communities surrounding his hotels, all to satisfy his own filthy greed.

On Friday, over 40 activists shut down multiple intersections in downtown DC during rush hour demanding an end to oil and gas lobbying. 💪

The American Petroleum Institute (API) and American Gas Association (AGA) are responsible for securing protections and tax breaks for the companies actively devastating our planet, poisoning our communities, and exploiting their workers.

We will not stand by while these lobbying associations continue to lie to the public and support Big Oil’s destruction, all to line the pockets of billionaires.

BREAKING: Activists block a freeway exit by the American Petroleum Institute (API) and American Gas Association (AGA) demanding lobbyists stop driving climate collapse.

Thanks to lobbying by API and AGA, Big Oil reported another year of soaring profits, all while continuing to mislead the public about their role in worsening climate disasters. And now, they have pressured lawmakers to take further steps shielding the oil and gas industry from accountability.

This May Day, we will NOT stand by while corporations and billionaires exploit, harm, and kill working people to line their own pockets.
