Support Our Tour to Armenia! MOVEIUS Contemporary Ballet was founded in 2010 to catalyze the creation and public presentation of innovative, accessible, and thoughtful contemporary ballet. An ensemble company, MOVEIUS strives to present new works in the classical ballet idiom, as well as restaging works of historical importance to the DC Metro community and promoting cross-disciplinary and adventurous collaborations with artists and musicians. Since its inception, MOVEIUS has performed in a variety of venues in Maryland, DC, Virginia, and North Carolina, including Dance Place, Atlas Performing Arts Center, Montgomery College Cultural Arts Center, the GALA Theatre at Tivoli Square, and Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company, and the Booth Playhouse in Charlotte, North Carolina, and looks forward to a series of spring 2014 appearances at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. Called “challenging, attractive, and adventuresome” by Washington Post reporter Lisa Traiger, MOVEIUS has received critical acclaim and enthusiastic press coverage from Washington Post, Huffington Post, DC Metro Theater Arts, Charlotte Observer, Washingtonian and Bethesda Magazines, among others.

Only 7 days left til Armenia…

With only one week to go until the company is flying to Armenia, we’re only $1,000 away from our $10,000 match! With an extension to October 30th, we’re so close to reaching our first milestone of $10,000 to meet our match for a total of $20,000. After an incredible weekend of performances at home (the support we felt from our audience was immeasurable) it’s time to take these gorgeous works to the international stage – and we can’t do it without you!

We're Almost Ready…

Last night’s tech rehearsal brought out so many wonderful moments for our dancers 🤩and while we continue to make final touches during dress rehearsal tonight, Prelude: A Season of Migration, is shaping up to be dynamic, heartfelt, and all-around stunning! You’re going to want to be in the audience to see for yourself – this isn’t a show you want to miss.

Only 3 more days to get these steps down 😬

In the final part of our video series, we see what each dancer's most difficult step from Stabat Mater is – this time it ended up being just Misha’s, whose steps get increasingly more chaotic 😵‍💫 (ft. Kami, who thinks the most difficult step is… everything).

Don’t hold your breath – it’ll all be fine by the show 🤞

🎼Bach’s Passion Returns to the Stage 🎼

Inspired by Bach’s ability to compose music that transcends physical existence and evokes ethereality, Roudolf Kharatian created Bach’s Passion to honor his musical genius through movement. While it originally premiered in 2002, Moveius Ballet first brought this duet to life in 2025 after working with Kharatian, who through the rehearsal process found renewed inspiration. Misha Glouchkova & Adam Chavis reprise their roles once more in this excerpt, acting as a duet of lovers locked in a constant orbit, drawn together and held by their unwavering devotion.

“After a long, long career working in environmental policy, and also a long, long career working in dance, I really loved being able to combine the two through this work.”

We go Up Close with Diana Movius as she shares the inspiration behind Seasons of Resilience, and her reasoning for bringing it back to the stage once more. Seasons of Resilience premiered in 2024 at the National Portrait Gallery and was inspired by Rachel Carson’s book, ‘Silent Spring.’ With an invitation from the Armenian government to perform in conjunction with the 2026 United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity, a major biennial diplomatic conference, ‘Seasons’ seemed like the obvious choice in being Moveius’ landmark work in their 11th season.

Don’t miss the premiere at Prelude: A Season of Migration

There’s a passé, bent-leg…situation..happening 🤷

In Part 2 of our video series, we see what each dancer's most difficult step from Stabat Mater is – including Sona’s (featuring Coreyonté - who isn’t even in the piece - as voiceover. New talent unlocked?)

Don’t hold your breath – it’ll all be fine by the show 🤞
