In a 2026 national survey, 82% of Americans supported term limits for Congress. That includes 85% of Republicans and 83% of Democrats.

The University of Maryland’s Program for Public Consultation also surveyed nearly 20,000 citizens in competitive states and House districts. Support was at least 74% in every one.

Few other issues bring so many Americans on both sides together.
