After being deported from Jordan back to Sudan, these refugees are now in Cairo, escaping persecution in Sudan a second time.

After fleeing the civil war in Sudan to Jordan, where they were again deported to Egypt, the Sudanese community now faces social and economic hardships that push some to risk their lives in the journey to Europe where they believe they will find a better life.

As the world’s third largest democracy and a central player in Southeast Asia, Indonesia should have stood up for justice and accountability and for the people who have been victimized by the brutality of Bashir’s regime.

Indonesia just turned their backs on the victims of the Darfur genocide by welcoming the man responsible, Sudan's President Omar al-Bashir.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) issued a warrant for Bashir’s arrest seven years ago today for his role in the Darfur genocide.

The warrant has not stopped Bashir from traveling 74 times to 21 countries.

And the world has not stopped Bashir from killing his own people with 100,000 people force from their homes this year alone.

Omar al-Bashir has flown to 21 countries since the International Criminal Court issued a warrant for his arrest.

Abuobeida Ali was a toddler when militiamen stormed his village in Sudan's Darfur in 2003.

Now 17, he is one of the more than 870,000 Darfuri children living in camps for the displaced who struggle to balance their studies with the need to survive.

In West Darfur, 30 percent of children are not even attending primary school.

In 2015, Sudan was the fifth highest refugee producing country in the world with 634,612 refugees.

As huge numbers of people continue to arrive in Europe seeking refuge, countries such as Germany are prioritizing the asylum applications for certain nationalities. Sudan isn't one of them.

Sudanese people have been fleeing massacres and warfare in their country for more than a decade. But as refugees from newer wars flood Europe, their plight has apparently become less important.

After being rebuked for welcoming Sudan's President Bashir last summer, South Africa's President Zuma announces the withdrawal of his country's peacekeeping troops in Darfur.

With Darfur suffering horrible violence over the past 4 weeks this is outrageous.

South Africa’s president Jacob Zuma has ordered the withdrawal of the country’s peacekeeping troops from Sudan’s Darfur region.

Despite the fact that Darfur is suffering a massive wave of violence, with 100,000 people driven from their homes in the last month, Egyptian President el-Sisi chose to entertain Bashir at the African Trade and Investment Forum this past weekend.

If stopping genocide matters to the US and the UN Security Council, they must act when countries like Egypt engage with leaders accused of genocide.

Fighting, which began in earnest in mid-January 2016, remains undiminished in Darfur. Has the world finally stopped caring what happens in Darfur?

On February 11, 2016 the New York Times published my brief and summary account of the current crises in Darfur, most particularly the extension of Khartoum's genocidal counter-insurgency campaign t...
