Religious Community for Reproductive Choice

Religious Community for Reproductive Choice Reproductive decision-making is sacred. Reproductive freedom is religious freedom. You can check out our Guidestart Gold Seal of Transparency here!

RCRC values and promotes religious liberty which upholds the human and constitutional rights of all people to exercise their conscience to make their own reproductive health decisions without shame and stigma. RCRC challenges systems of oppression and seeks to remove the multiple barriers that impede individuals, especially those in marginalized communities in accessing comprehensive reproductive

health care with respect and dignity. We seek to change hearts and minds, as well as transform the public dialogue on faith and choice, through a combination of educational programs and advocacy initiatives. We also provide spiritual fortification and resources to the reproductive freedom movement. https://www.guidestar.org/profile/52-1213972

This weekend, we honor lives lost to war by recommitting ourselves to a world rooted in peace and justice.

Our shared faith values call upon us to pray for families carrying grief, for communities shaped by violence, and for a future where fewer lives are sacrificed to conflict.

May remembrance deepen our commitment to care for one another and to build a future where every person, no matter their residence or nationality, is able to live and raise a family in safety and abundance.

Blessed are the peacemakers. 🤲

The Journal for the Scientific Study of Religion recently published a study by .rebecca.todd.peters examining how Southern Protestant women understand the morality of their abortion decisions.

During in-depth interviews, the women revealed rich spiritual lives and thoughtful engagement with their Christian faith. They "navigated abortion decisions with theological depth, moral reasoning, and a profound sense of responsibility."

The results of this study echo something many of us know personally: across the country, women of faith are exercising moral agency and living out our religious convictions when we make decisions about reproduction and parenthood. đź’ś

This , we honor those who are mothers … and all the ways they come to that identity. Some choose to be, some hope to be, and others are on journeys marked by barriers or loss.

Motherhood is most sacred when it emerges from intention, care, and commitment—not pressure or constraint. Honoring motherhood also means honoring the freedom to *choose* it.

And yet, across the country, that freedom is increasingly shaped by laws that restrict access to abortion care, legislators working to limit reproductive options, and systems that make it harder for people to get the support they need.

We are grateful for the providers, caregivers, and companions who, even in the face of those challenges, continue to show up with compassion and integrity, offering support without judgment. They also embody the many ways that “mothering” can show up in the world: as care, presence, and fierce support.

However this day meets you, we see you and we love you. đź’ś

Across faith traditions, prayer is a transcendent practice--a way to rise beyond the mundane and bridge with the divine. The act of praying has been described as a "longing of the soul."

Today, we pray for those whose rights, freedom, and bodily autonomy are being threatened or denied in this country. We hold in our hearts all who are navigating their reproductive lives—and the providers and caregivers who show up each day with compassion and integrity.

We also pray for the day when religion is used *only* to uplift and protect, and never to justify harm or deny others their dignity.

However you mark this year's , may it ground you in both compassion and the work of justice.

We were proud to join with Interfaith Voices for Reproductive Freedom at the North Carolina General Assembly yesterday to speak out about the harms of crisis pregnancy centers (CPCs). We also stood in support of Rep. Julie von Haefen’s bill, HB1120, which calls for the redirection of tax dollars going toward CPCs to legitimate sources of reproductive and maternal care instead!

As RCRC CEO Rev. Katey Zeh said, “These centers are unregulated, non-medical facilities that routinely give out false information, misdiagnose ectopic pregnancies and other life-threatening conditions, and use deception to prey on the vulnerable—yet they have received millions in public funding …

As people of faith, we cannot stand idly by while this crisis escalates.”

Tonight we welcome the festivals of Vesak and Beltane!

While the first commemorates the birth, enlightenment, and death of the Buddha and the second marks the beginning of summer, they share some themes in common:

🔥 Fire as a symbol of enlightenment, illumination, purification, and warmth.

đź’« A sense of belonging within something larger: nature, community, the cycle of life.

🦋 Transformation.

However you mark this season, may it be a time of understanding, growth, and renewed commitment to interconnectedness of our world.

A recent study released by revealed that, much like the American public at large, nearly two-thirds of Asian-American women support access to legal abortion!

They most frequently view it as an issue of human rights, personal decision-making, and safety. Abortion is also seen as an important part of the broader continuum of reproductive care.

Also notable is the religious diversity found among AAPI women. While the general American population breaks down as roughly 2/3 Christian and 1/3 unaffiliated or "other," we see a more even spread among the population sampled for this study.

This is an interesting microcosm of a larger truth that we already know: the majority of people of faith in this country—and the majority overall—support legal abortion access!

Infertility is a reproductive justice issue.

While we all have the right to build and parent our families of choice, our rates of infertility *and* access to fertility treatments are affected by structural issues related to race, ethnicity, class, gender, sexual orientation, and environmental inequities.

On top of that, technologies like in vitro fertilization (IFV) are being targeted by anti-abortion lawmakers, creating even more barriers for people seeking care.

Remember: access to fertility treatments is access to reproductive care is reproductive justice!
