Across generations and across borders, motherhood and caregiving have always been at the heart of movements for justice — shaping leaders, sustaining communities, and pushing us forward.

In many parts of the world, Mother’s Day is today, but not everywhere, and not in the same way.

For some, it’s celebration.
For others, it’s complicated.
For many, it’s both at once.

Today, we’re holding space for all of it. 💜

We’re celebrating mothers, caregivers, and all those who show up with care — in big ways, in quiet ways, in ways the world doesn’t always recognize.

Because care is not small.
Care is power.
Care is how communities survive.
Care is how movements grow.

At Girl Up, we see that every day, in young leaders carrying forward legacies of care and turning them into action, advocacy, and change.

So wherever you are, and whatever this day feels like for you, we see you.

And we’re celebrating all those who mother, nurture, and lead — on their own terms.

It’s not just a shift in language—it’s a shift in power. ⚡️

Is your work being done for youth or by youth?

Often, youth participation is limited to being "consulted" while adults keep the final say. We’re changing that narrative. At , we believe that for a movement to truly win, young people must be the ones leading the strategy.

✅ Youth-centered: You are included.
✅ Youth-led: You hold the power.

We aren't just preparing for the future; we are building it right now. 🚀

What happens when adolescent girls are given the space to lead? ✨ The answer is clear: they show up with courage, solutions, and a vision for a better world.

Our Girl Up leaders from Côte d’Ivoire took center stage at the Adolescent Girls Summit (AGS) 2026, proving that girls aren't just participants, they are the ones shaping the global agenda. From STEAM to leadership, they are breaking barriers and building bridges. 🌍

As Jamela puts it: "I learned the importance of believing in myself and not limiting my ambitions." 💜

Community is a universal language. 💬

We asked our leaders around the world to define "Global Community" in one word. The results? A beautiful reminder that our goals are shared, no matter where we call home.

🌏 Empowerment.
🌏 Inclusion.
🌏 Connection.

What does "global community" mean to you? Drop your word in the comments! 👇

15 years ago, Girl Up set out to support young leaders around the world.

Today, those young leaders are running the show. 🙌

Our new strategic vision is rooted in one clear belief: when young people have real power — not just a seat at the table, but a say in how the table is built — the outcomes are stronger, more relevant, and more lasting.

This is what youth-led looks like at the highest level. And we're just getting started. 💙🧡

At Girl Up, youth leadership isn’t performative — it’s power.⚡

We’re not just talking about girls and young people leading, we’re building it into every molecule of our work.

By embedding our first-ever Chief Youth Advisors into executive staff leadership, Girl Up is ensuring young people help shape strategy, influence decisions, and guide the future of this movement at the highest level. 🌍

Because intergenerational leadership means more than inviting youth to the table. It means sharing power.

This is what walking the walk looks like.

Young people aren’t waiting for the future — they’re leading it now. 🔥💜

Girls aren't waiting for change. They're leading it. Now.

Girl Up is proud to endorse the Adolescent Girls’ Manifesto launched at Women Deliver 2026, a powerful global call written BY adolescent girls, FOR adolescent girls, affirming their rights, leadership, and futures as non-negotiable.

We are honored to stand alongside advocates around the world in amplifying girls’ voices and supporting their demands for a more just, equitable future.

Our moment. Our power. Our future.

Read the manifesto, amplify girls’ demands, and stand with youth leaders worldwide. 💜https://womendeliver.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Girls-Deliver-Manifesto-En-041326.pdf

Young people didn’t just inform Girl Up’s new strategy. They built it.

Our refreshed Theory of Change reflects a critical shift in how we think about impact — and where we place our trust.

We are moving from a model focused on leadership development alone to one that positions youth leadership as a direct pathway to structural change, grounded in intergenerational leadership and shared power.

That looks like:
Investing in youth leaders as decision-makers today, not future stakeholders
Embedding intergenerational leadership across our model, with youth shaping programs, partnerships, and strategy alongside experienced leaders
Resourcing youth-led action that is locally rooted and globally connected
Building an interconnected movement capable of driving collective influence across borders

The result is not just stronger individual leaders. It’s measurable, system-level impact.

With more than 435,000 youth participants across 155+ countries, Girl Up is focused on what creates lasting change: pairing the power of young people with the infrastructure, community, and intergenerational collaboration needed to move systems forward.

This is what it looks like to invest in leadership that doesn’t wait — and change that doesn’t either. 💜

Across the world, Girl Up leaders are showing what it means to fight for the planet — not just on Earth Day, but every day! 🌍

They’re organizing in their communities, challenging systems that harm both people and the environment, and building solutions that center justice, equity, and the future they deserve.

This work doesn’t belong to one country, one language, or one group of people. It belongs to all of us.

Because protecting the planet isn’t optional. It’s a shared responsibility — and the next generation is already leading the way. 💜
